Broadway is My Beat - The Mary Gilbert Murder Case

Detective Danny Clover stops by to see Mrs. Brandeis at her home, with unfortunate news.  Regardless of the appeals, her son Maury is scheduled to be executed Monday morning at 1:00 AM.  Reviewing the case, the jury found that Maury Brandeis held up Charles Gilbert's Jewelry Shop. During the course of the robbery, he shot and killed Mary Gilbert, Charles's daughter. Two witnesses testified against him. They saw his car in front of the jewelry shop with the motor running, and wrote down his license plate number. The gun, the stolen goods, and the ownership tag of Maury Brandeis were later found in the car.  Saturday morning, Danny stops by to see Mr. Gilbert at his shop, in hopes of finding something that was missed in the trial.
