The Man Called X - Race Against Death
Saturday Jun 13, 2026
Saturday Jun 13, 2026
The Chief of the Intelligence Bureau is discussing, with Ken Thurston, a report he received concerning the murder of Luis Rivera, the owner of a newspaper on the island of Puerto Rico. The Chief says "So, his dying words were asking for you. He said "Get me the man called X". Ken says "That's what the report says". The Chief says "I don't get it. What's the connection between the murder of a Puerto Rican newspaper man and the bureau?" Ken says "Luis Rivera was more than a newspaper man. He was a crusader, always fighting for the benefit of the little people and for his country. This time, I think he bit off more than he could chew". Chief asks "Like what?" Ken says "Like the Nationalista Party". Chief says "Oh, wait a minute, Ken. The Nationalista Party's no threat anymore. After a couple of their gunmen made that assassination attempt in Washington, they were broken up". Ken says "Or did they just go underground? Chief, that part is an organized gang of revolutionaries. You know, Puerto Rico for the Puerto Ricans. We've heard that line before. China, Korea, and they're still operating there, underground. Well, it's like an H-bomb sitting in the heart of Latin America. Only a thousand miles from the Panama Canal". Chief says "Yes, but Ken, we don't know that they've gone underground. We haven't any proof". Ken says "What if Luis Rivera had?" Chief says "Hmm. Miss Brooks, book passage for Ken Thurston on the first plane for San Juan, Puerto Rico". Later, Ken and Pagon arrive in San Juan. Pagon says "Believe me, Mr. X, you won't ever regret taking me along here to Puerto Rico. I know every hot dive in San Juan". Ken says "That figures". Pagon says "Sure, whatever it is you want here, I'm the guy who can fix it up". Ken says "I want you to get me some information about the Nationalista party". Pagon says "The Nationalista party? But, but, Mr. X, these Nationalista jokers would as soon cut your throat for a nickel". Ken says "Then, you know them". Pagon says "I won't admit that. Nothing. Not for a million bucks. Hey .... that's a C-note .... "

Saturday Jun 13, 2026

Captain Kennelly, commander of the 21st Precinct is working the night tour, from 4:00 PM until midnight. He came into the station at 3:25 PM, signs the blotter, and goes to his office to finish the paperwork from the previous 24 hours. Later, after performing some of his normal duties, Kennelly goes on patrol of the precinct in sector car number two with Patrolman Paul Egan. During the course of this patrol, Kennelly stops at a movie house on Lexington Avenue in regard to several complaints that had been received. He finds the manager, Mr. Sokan, in the back of the theater and spoke to him there. Sokan says "Captain, believe me, I don't want a bunch of rowdy's in here". Kennelly says "Well, they're certainly beginning to scare your regular patrons away". Sokan says "You're telling me". Kennelly says "Well, there'll be even more of them stay away, Mr. Soken, if you can't keep the disturbances down in here". Sokan says "Well, what can I do? They seem like nice clean kids, but when they get in here, they start making a lot of noise and disturbing the patrons. There's usually a group of them. I try to calm them down, but there's only me and one usher". Kennelly says "Well, just call the station house, Mr. Soken. We'll get them quiet or out or both". Soken says "That's been something I've been trying to avoid, Captain, but it looks like I will have to take your advice". Patrolman Egan steps into the room and says "Captain, the call just came over. Alarm of a fire at 83rd Street and 1st Avenue". Kennelly says "All right". As they are leaving, Kennelly says "Keep in touch with us if you need us, Mr. Soken". He says "I will, Captain. Thanks." As they get into the sector car, Kennelly says "Okay, what's burning there, Egan? Do you know?" Egan says "The call didn't say, Captain". Kennelly says "All right, we'll go take a look". Egan turns on the lights and siren. As they quickly get underway, Kennelly says "Cut over and go up First Street. There'll be less traffic". Egan says "Yes, sir". Suddenly, a car pulls out in front of the sector car, and a huge crash is heard!

Richard Diamond, Private Detective - The Louis Spence Case
Friday Jun 12, 2026
Friday Jun 12, 2026
The phone is ringing in Rick's office. He answers it and says "Diamond Detective Agency. There's no corpse like an old corpse". Helen says "Oh, Rick, that's awful". He says "Yeah, but what am I going to do? I can't be witty and handsome at the same time". Helen says "Well, don't be greedy. Just concentrate on one of them. Why don't you come on over and we'll both try and improve?" Rick says "Shame on you. You know I've got to work". Helen asks "Oh, have you got a client?" Rick says "Well, not yet, but I've set bear traps all the way down the hall". Suddenly, the office door opens, Sergeant Otis comes running in, and says "Diamond!" Rick says "Oh, my gosh". Helen says "What's wrong?" Rick says "Those traps. I think I've caught something terrible". Otis says "Diamond, I got to talk to you!" Helen asks "Who is it, Rick?" He says "It's Sergeant Otis. He says he's got to talk to me, but I'll be darned if I'll teach him how". Helen says "Oh, say hello for me". Rick says "Helen says hello". Otis says "Tell her hello, then get off the phone. This is serious". Rick says "Helen, I'll call you back" She says "Why? Is something wrong?" Rick says "Well, Otis looks worried, and he's making sense for the first time in eleven years". Helen says "Oh, well, call me later and tell me about it. Bye". Rick hangs up the phone, and says "Now, Sergeant, what's on your personal mind?" Otis says "I want you to come down to the station with me in a hurry". Rick says "Of course you'll think this is a silly question, but why?" Otis says "You remember Lewis Spence? About four years ago. We caught him running around sticking dynamite under the homes of some of our city officials". Rick says "Oh, yeah. Socialistic nut. They put him away, didn't they?" Otis says "Yeah, crazy as they come. Well, he's out". Rick says "What do you mean he's out? If they cured his head, he'd still face a lot of years up the river". Otis says "Oh, he ain't cured, not a bit". Rick says "You mean he busted out?" Otis says "Yesterday! Now, he's down at the police station, sitting in the lieutenant's office, and holding a big bomb!"

Friday Jun 12, 2026
Friday Jun 12, 2026
Barrie Craig is on a train heading toward the Adirondacks for a week of fishing. He is in the Club Car looking admiringly at a Planter's Punch when a nice looking lady asks "Would you have any objections if I sat here?" Barrie says "Would anybody object to Santa Claus dropping in?" She laughs and says "Thank you. What's your name?" He says "Barrie Craig". She says "I'm Claire Roberts. What are you drinking?" Barrie says "I haven't started yet. It's almost too pretty to drink. It's a Planter's Punch". Claire says "It looks wonderful, uh, would you mind?" Barrie says "Not at all. Oh, waiter?" He says "Yes, sir?" Barrie says "One of these for the lady". The waiter says "Right away, sir". Claire asks "Where you going, Barrie?" He says "The Adirondacks". Claire says "They're very tall mountains". Barrie says "Well, I don't intend to climb any. What I had in mind was a small amount of fishing". Claire says "Well, that's a wonderful coincidence. I'm going fishing too". Barrie asks "For what?" Claire says "Fish. Uh, Barrie, before the waiter gets back, will you keep this for me? It's only a small envelope". Barrie says "Why do you .... " The waiter returns and says "Your drink, Madam. Is there anything else, sir?" Barrie says "Uh, not right now, thank you". When the waiter leaves, Claire asks "What did you do with the envelope?" Barrie says "I put it in my breast pocket". Claire says "You're very sweet, and now let's drink to .... " Barrie suddenly knocks the drink out of her hand! Clair says "My glass is broken. Well, I suppose accidents will happen". Barrie says "No accident". Claire says "What?" Barrie says "I spotted the waiter dropping something into your drink when he was bringing it". Claire says "Oh, no". Barrie says "Hold it". The waiter comes back and says "A little accident, sir? Barrie says "That's the way it looks". The waiter says "I'll get the lady another drink". Barrie says "Don't bother, the lady is isn't thirsty anymore". The waiter says "Thank you, sir". Barrie says "Come on, Claire". As they leave, Claire says "But, I wanted that drink". Barrie says "Even if it was poisoned?"

CBS Radio Mystery Theater - The Old Ones Are Hard to Kill
Thursday Jun 11, 2026
Thursday Jun 11, 2026
Mrs. Ada Canby is talking to Dr. George after her check-up. The doctor says "Mrs. Canby, I can't see a thing to complain about. All in all, I'd says you're doing fine". Ada says "For a woman my age, you mean?" Dr. George says "The older the chicken, the tougher it is to kill. That's what my grandmother used to tell me, and she lived to be 98 years old. Speaking of relatives, do you see much of Walter?" Ada says "My grandson? Oh, the usual once a year visit and he always comes up with the same complaint". Dr. George asks "What's that?" Ada says "That I shouldn't be living all alone in that big house". Dr. George says "Well, that big house yours must get pretty lonely sometimes". Ada says "Well, the truth is, Dr. George, that I'm not alone there. I decided to take in a boarder last month". Doctor says "Really?" Ada says "I'm sure Walter would object to my taking in a stranger, but there's really nothing wrong with Mr. Paulson, except for his health, maybe". Doctor says "His health? What's wrong with him?" Ada says "Oh, the poor man's had a terrible cold for the past two weeks". Doctor says "Now, where did you meet this, Mr. Paulson?" Ada says "He answered an ad I ran in the newspaper. He's just back from South America, been living in Brazil for years. He's a very nice gentleman, really. He keeps to himself, and tends his birds. You can hear them chirping all over the house. It's the friendliest sound". Doctor says "Well, I don't see anything wrong with what you're doing. Just make sure you don't go and catch the man's cold". Ada says "There's not much chance of that. The poor man hardly ever leaves his room". Much later that night, Ada hears Mr. Paulson coughing in his room. She says to herself "Oh my, listen to that poor man". Suddenly, Mr. Paulson starts calling for her! She runs to his room and says "Mr. Paulson, why didn't you tell me you were this sick? I've got to get you a doctor!" Paulson says "No, it's too late now. I must tell you something. I committed murder ten years ago, and a man named John Lindell was sent to prison for it".

Someone is knocking on the front door of the Cafe Tambourine in the middle of the night. Rocky says "The Tambourine's closed for the night, mister. Make it tomorrow". The man outside says "Let me in at once. Mr. Jordan, unlock the door". Rocky goes to open the door and says "This better be good". Opening the door, Rocky sees a red faced man holding a native boy by the scruff of his neck. The man says "Now, boy, get in there". The boy says "No, please, sir". The man says "Inside, I said". The boy says "Let me go, please let me go". Rocky says "All right, the kid's far enough, mister. What's it all about?" The man says "I'm here for the return of my wallet. A wallet containing five hundred pounds". Rocky says "Oh, look. We all make mistakes". The man says "There's no mistake. I was here at your tambourine earlier tonight. During that time, this boy stole the wallet from my pocket". Rocky asks "Is that right, kid?" The man says "Answer him. Did you or didn't you?" The boy says "It is as he says. I stole his wallet in your tambourine, sir". The man looks at Rocky and says "Do you understand now, Jordan?" Rocky says "Not a thing, including where you get the idea of dragging the kid in here in the middle of the night?" The man says "Only to give you one chance to return the wallet to me". Rocky says "Me returning? What are you talking about?" The man says "So, you refuse. Well, we'll see what the police have to say". Rocky says "Yeah, why don't you do that? There's one right at the corner". The man says "Very well. Police! Come and arrest this man at once!" Later, at the police station, Rocky is disappointed to see that Captain Sam Sabaya is not there, and Sergeant Greco is in charge. Greco looks at the man and says "Your name, please?" The man says "Ronson, Howard Ronson. This boy can tell you everything that happened. Go ahead boy". Greco says "One moment. What is your name?" The boy says "Stephan". Greco says "Proceed". Stephan says "It was I who took the wallet from the man, but I did only as I was told by Mr. Jordan".

Wednesday Jun 10, 2026
Wednesday Jun 10, 2026
Johnny Dollar gets a call from Earl Poroman, a representative of Tri-State Life and Casualty Insurance Company in Sarasota, Florida. Johnny says "Earl, you're a dog". Earl says "What?" Johnny says "A couple of weeks ago, when you dragged me down there to Florida, I thought you were going to take me out in the gulf with some of those kingfish". Earl says "Well, now ...." Johnny says "Instead, we ended up fishing a body out of the bayou". Earl says "Well, you don't think I planned that?" Johnny says "Oh no, I was only kidding, but if you're calling me about going down there for some fishing this time .... well, are you?" Earl says "Well, maybe we can get out in the gulf while you're down here". Johnny says "While I'm down there for what?" Earl says "To find out what's happened to a policy holder of ours". Johnny says "Uh-oh, another one of those mysterious disappearance things?" Earl says "No, no, I want you to find out, if you can, whether it was suicide or murder". Johnny says "Oh. I'll grab the first plane I can". Later that day, Johnny's plane lands at the Tampa International Airport. He then takes a charter plane to Sarasota, where he was met by Earl Poroman in his new car. After they get underway, Earl says "Uh, you know something, Johnny? If I'd had any sense, I'd have met you in Tampa". Johnny asks "Why do you say that, Earl?" He says "Because this murder, if it really was a murder, occurred on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, about 28 or 29 miles north of town". Johnny says "Yeah, I wondered why we were heading north on the Tamiami Trail. But, you say, if it was murder". Earl says "Or if it was suicide, Johnny, if you can prove it. Well, that'll take the company off the hook for some forty thousand bucks". Johnny says "Uh-huh. Who is the victim, insured?" Earl says "A worthless tinhorn gambler by the name of Alfie Garber". Johnny says "Tinhorn, huh? Well, he must have had something to pay the premiums on forty thousand dollars worth of insurance". Earl says "He paid exactly one of those premiums, Johnny".

Mr. Keen, Tracer of Lost Persons - The Broken Window Murder Case
Tuesday Jun 09, 2026
Tuesday Jun 09, 2026
A very upset young lady walks into Mr. Keen's office. She asks "Is that you, Mr. Keen, sir?" He says "Yes". She says "My name is Laura Franklin. My father... It's so awful... So horrible... I find it difficult to even talk about it, Mr. Keen". He asks "What seems to be the trouble, Laura?" She says "It's my father. He was stabbed to death last night in our home!" Mike says "No wonder the girl's ready to collapse. Here, Miss, sit down and take it easy". Keen says "Try to compose yourself, Laura". She says "I made up my mind I wouldn't break down again before I told you the story and asked for your help, Mr. Keen". He says "Well, this is my partner, Mike Clancy. You can say what you want to him as well". Mike asks "When did it happen, Miss Laura?" She says "Last night, Mr. Clancy. I suppose it'll be in all the newspapers this afternoon. Dad was a well-known member of the community. Mr. Keen, you may have heard of his student endowment fund". Keen asks "Was he the John Franklin who donated a large sum of money a few weeks ago to help educate promising young students?" Laura says "Yes, he was very generous and well-liked. Father didn't have an enemy in the world. Why should someone have wanted to kill him?" Keen asks "Do the police have any suspects?" Laura says "No, We only know that the killer entered our house by breaking a pane of glass in the window of Father's study. There were blood stains on the broken pane, and the police think the killer must have cut his hand". Keen says "I see". Laura says "Father was in the library at the time. It was two o'clock in the morning, and I was asleep upstairs". Keen says "And you heard no noise, no sound of a scuffle?" Laura says "No, sir. My room is on the second floor in the back of the house. The killer used a knife, not a gun. And I heard nothing". Keen asks "What about the servants, Laura?" She says "They're all down at police headquarters now being questioned, but, at the time it happened, they were all in the servants' cottage, a few hundred yards from the main house".

They spent the evening at the theater and returned to their hotel room shortly after 11:00 o'clock. Jenny says "Oh thank you, Tony darling. Oh, I'm sorry, but let's not take it so seriously. After all, a young married couple should be happy". Tony says "A young married couple? Who are you trying to kid, Jenny?" She says "That expression on your face, it's as though you hated me". Tony says "Oh no, Jenny. I don't hate you. I don't feel any way at all about you. How could I? Good Lord, you're twenty five years older than I am". Jenny yells "Tony! Stop it, stop it, stop it!" Someone knocks on the wall. Tony says "Now, you hear that? You're disturbing the man in the next room for Heaven's sake. Keep your voice down". Jenny says "Listen darling, I love you. I forgive you for the horrible thing you just said to me". Tony says "Now, wait a minute. Here, have a glass of water". Jenny says "Thank you, Tony. When we get to Europe, we'll never mention this. I think you must be very tired". Tony says "Get Europe out of your mind. I'm not going". Jenny says "Not going on our honeymoon?" Tony says "Honeymoon? Oh, don't be ridiculous. You might as well get it straight, Jenny. I only married you for your money". Jenny is so upset, she drops the water glass and it shatters on the floor. Jenny says "I'm sorry. I better clean it up. You might cut your foot". Tony says "Don't do that with your bare hands, you'll cut yourself". Jenny says "Is that what you really want Tony? Just money?" Tony says "That's it. I am pretty much a louse and always have been". Jenny says "What do you want me to do?" Tony says "Divorce me, of course, and make a nice fat financial settlement". Jenny says "There'll be no divorce, Tony. That isn't the way our marriage is going to end".

He says "If there is, you can't blame it on us". She says "No, and I can't blame it on you if there's no scotch, either". He says "Was I drinking scotch and champagne? Why didn't you stop me?" She says "The first division couldn't have stopped you". He says "Oh, never again". She says "You know, dear, you shouldn't go driving when you're feeling the way you did". He says "I drove the car last night?" She says "You did". He asks "Where I go?" She says "No one could talk you out of driving the Masons home after the party". He says "I drove the Masons home? All the way over across the bridge?" She says "You did". He says "I don't remember anything after about 10 o'clock". She says "You did it, all by yourself". Just then, their telephone rang. J.B. says "I'll get it. Hello?" The voice on the line says "Good morning. How do you feel this morning, Mr. Lamar?" He says "Frankly, sir, not very well". The voice says "I wouldn't think so, after last night". J.B. asks "Who is this calling?" The voice says "I am a man who could be a very good friend of yours, or a bad enemy". J.B. asks "Who are you? What do you want?" The voice says "My name is Dixon, Martin Dixon. I've got some information that's pretty valuable to you". J.B. asks "What kind of information?" Dixon says "Information about what happened last night when you were driving across the bridge".

He hears a knock at the door, and says "Alright, alright". When he opens the door, he hears a young boy says "Hi, Mr. Ussery". Slim says "Well, come in. Come in, Joey. Don't stand there like a tired old field horse". Joey says "Yes, sir. Look, Mr. Ussery, don't be sore at me because I .... " Slim says "Don't tell me here. Come on into the parlor". As Joey is walking in, Slim says "Kids. Spend your days and nights trying to pound a little something in their pumpkin head so maybe they'll amount to something". Slim opens the door to his parlor and says "Get in there". Joey says "Yes, sir". Slim says "Well, what were you going to tell me, boy? Get it out of you. You'd think he wasn't born with a tongue". Joey says "I tried, Mr. Ussery. Honest, I tried". Slim says "Sit down". Joey says "Yes, sir". Slim says "Now, you got to listen to me, boy. For years, I've been showing kids how to do this. Kids, they all think they're smarter than you". Joey says "Oh, I don't think I'm smarter than you, honest". Slim says "Well, if you'd listened close to me and done exactly like I told you, you wouldn't had no experience like that". Joey says "I tried, Mr. Ussery". Slim says "You didn't do it like I told you. You didn't do a thing I told you". Joey says "I was awfully scared. That cop came pretty close. Awful close". Slim says "Well, if you'd listened to me, and if you'd opened the window, like I showed you how to open it, you'd have been in there and out with a stack full of stuff before that cop even got close". Joey says "Yes, sir. I guess I would, but ...." Slim says "But nothing. I got boys all over this city and lots of other cities. I showed them what to do and how to do it. Now me and you are going back to that store tonight, and me and you are going to come home with a gunny sack full of stuff". Joey says "Yes, sir". Slim says "And then after we get back, I'm going to show you a few other things. Like how to disguise yourself up good so nobody can pick you out".

Jeff Regan, Investigator - The Hollywood Story
Saturday Jun 06, 2026
Saturday Jun 06, 2026
It started about noon in the Lyon 's office. He was sitting behind his desk engulfed in a cloud of fifty cent cigar smoke. But, through the smoke, the gleam in his eyes cut like a sunset strip searchlight announcing the opening of a popcorn stand. As Regan was walking in, the Lyon says "Jeffery, come in, come in. It's a wonderful day". Regan says "Looks like it. Did a rich uncle die, Fatso?" Lyon says "Oh no, Jeffery, but something wonderful did happen!". Jeff says "We got a client?" Lyon says "Yes, and what else?". Jeff says "A rich client?" Lyon says "Yes, go on, Jeffery". Regan says "Look, Fatso, I'm no mind reader. What's the story?" Lyon says "Jeffery, the big moment has come at last. We've been hired by Progressive Pictures Incorporated". Regan says "Oh, movie money, huh?" Lyon says "Oh more than that, Jeffrey. This case has all the earmarks of a big thing. I happen to know that the famous movie star, Larry Winters, is involved. You see, Jeffery, we're getting on the inside of things". Regan says "Thank you, Hedda Hopper". Lyon says "Yeah, I also happen to know this case involves a two million dollar picture and a real future for the Lyon Detective Agency. Think of it, my boy, us being on the list of the big producers". Regan says "But, which list?" Lyon says "Now, you run right out to Progressive Pictures, Jeffrey. Look up Mr. H.P. Lovejoy, the big producer. He'll give you the complete details, and Jeffery, above all else, be on your best behavior. The future of the agency depends on you". Regan says "Really a big thing, huh Fatso?" Lyon says "It's colossal, gigantic, stupendous". Regan says "Yep, that's the movie business all right". When Regan arrived at the entrance to the studio, he saw a girl behind a wire cage, who summoned the big studio guard with a big gun. The guard was dressed in enough gold braid to worry an admiral. He took Regan down the studio lot to a door with an electric eye. After a couple more guards and about five secretaries, Regan finally came face-to-face with Mr. H.P. Lovejoy, himself.

The Epic Casebook - No Holds Barred
Friday Jun 05, 2026
Friday Jun 05, 2026
Inspector Carr receives a telephone call from a sergeant in the Operations Division. Carr says "Inspector Carr here". The Sergeant from Operations says "Inspector, there's been a murder on the high seas, sir". Carr says "You're reporting an incident or telling me of a movie you've seen, Ops?" The Sergeant says "Sorry about that dramatic opening, Inspector. I couldn't resist it. The general manager of the Transatlantic Shipping Company telephoned to say that the master of the vessel called the Dolphin, was found murdered whilst the vessel was still on the high seas, six miles out. She was sailing under a British flag, and registered at Southampton". Carr says "Okay, when is she due to dock? Sergeant says "According to Mr. Hamble, in about half an hour from now, sir. The docks are heavily congested and they expect some delay". Carr says "Oh, I better get down to the Southampton docks right away. After Carr arrives, he sees a man standing at the helm of a small vessel. Carr asks him "Are you the pilot ready to take me out to the Dolphin?" The man says "That's right. If you're the man from Scotland Yard that I've been told to look out for". Carr says "Good. Then it's away. My name's Carr". The man says "Captain Allenby at your service, sir. Here, let me give you a hand down". Carr gets onboard and says "Thanks. It is misty today". Allenby says "It certainly is. Look at them through the mist. They're waiting their turn to enter the docks". Carr asks "Is the Dolphin among that lot?" Allenby says "No, she's been told to drop anchor and await your arrival. She's about 45 degrees from the starboard bow". As the vessel gets underway, Carr asks Allenby "Do you know why we're going out?" Allenby says "It's all over the docks. They say there's been a mutiny, and the skipper's been done in. It wouldn't surprise me. They all had it in for Bill Timult". Carr says "Oh, is that the reputation he had?" Allenby says "So, they say. There's many a man who's refused to sign on the Dolphin because of Timult. Mind you, they also say there was no finer sailor on the seven seas".

G.J. says "You might call it a babysitting job". Sam asks "Who is she?" G.J. says "Kimberley Cross". Sam asks "Is she pretty?" G.J. says "Like a quarter of a million dollars". Sam says "Oh, rich too, huh?" G.J. says "She's on exhibit at the Bergendorf Galleries on Sutter Street". Sam says "She's on exhibit?" G.J. says "Get over there right away". Sam says "Well, I better!" G.J. says "Check with Mr. Bergendorf personally, and then see Johnny Stroud, our company man. He'll give you instructions". Sam says "Fine. Now, why don't you tell me what we're ..... " G.J. hung up the phone before Sam got his last question out. Sam says "That always happens on page six". Sam soon makes his way to the Bergendorf Galleries, and is knocking on the door. He says "Mr. Bergendorf? ... Mr. Bergendorf?" He sticks his head out the door and says "Sorry, sir. The exhibit officially does not until 9:00 AM begin. As you see it's 8:45 AM ..." Sam says "I won't charge you, Mr. Bergendorf, you can bring out the baby any time now. Mr. Runsable of Sunset Indemnity sent me. Here are my credentials". Bergendorf says "Uh, Mr. Spade. You are Mr. Spade". Sam says "I am, yes. Now, what's with this Kimberley Cross?" Bergendorf says "To a single horse gallery such as mine, comes such an honor only once. Today only. Here is picture of Kimberley Cross. Fourteen stones, all blue white. Eight down and six across" Sam looks at it and says "Oh, it's jewelry".

It is 6:00 o'clock of a November evening in London. In his stately home, Keith Darren, Barrister appointed to the King's Council, is in the study, napping in his favorite chair. His butler, Holly, quietly walks into the room and up to Darren, and then coughs discreetly. Keith somewhat awakens and asks "Yes, Holly, what is it?" Holly says "It's your brother, sir". Keith says "He is here?" Holly says "Yes, sir". Keith asks "Is he sober?" Holly says "He seems so, sir". Keith says "All right, show him in". Holly says "Yes, sir". Keith says "Oh, and Holly, you'd better telephone Judge Tillerson and say I may be a few minutes late for dinner". Holly says "Yes, sir", then goes to retrieve Keith's brother Larry and make the call. Keith says "Hello, Larry, come over here where I can see you. You look dreadful have you been drinking?" Larry says "I ... ah .... " Keith says "Don't mumble, Larry. If you have anything to say, then say it". After a few seconds, Keith says "I suppose you want money". Larry says "I ... ah ... " Keith says "What is it?" Larry says "I've ... killed a man". Keith says "You have been drinking". Larry says "No, it's true". Keith says "Larry, I have a dinner appointment". Larry says "I tell you, I killed a man last night". Keith says "You're not serious". Larry says "I am serious, what you want me to do? I told you, my brother. Can't you understand English?" Keith says "How, when, tell me!" Larry says "Well, there's a girl, you see, she's Polish. She married a man named Warren that left her with a baby coming. He ran out on her. She lost the baby and almost starved to death. Then, I came along. She's ... well, not what you'd call respectable". Keith says "Go on". Larry says "But, Keith, I've never met a sweeter woman. She's fine and good and so young, only twenty years old. Well, last night when I went to her, Warren was there. We had a row. He was drunk and half mad with rage. He came for me and I hit him, then took him by the throat. When I let go he was dead".

The club manager, Mr. Haines, has just has joined Veek in his library. Haines says "Mr. Veek, what's happening?" Veek says "Relax, Haines, your blood pressure". Haines says "I thought it was a gag, but you really are shutting the club down". Veek says "Yes, because next week, the governor's committee will be here. I think the club needs a rest. Crime committees so rarely admire gambling". Haines says "Oh, that's different". Veek says "So it is. The club needs a rest, and you need a vacation. Florida perhaps?" Haines says "I don't like Florida". Veek says "Pick any place you like, just so long as you get out of reach of a subpoena. Stay out of the state until I send for you". As Haines is leaving, he says "Okay, Mr. Veek. Sure, Mr. Veek". Meanwhile, the Governor is discussing the situation with his trusted aide, Williams. The Governor says "Williams, I'm disturbed". Williams says "The crime committee, sir?" Governor says "It was doing well, very well, and then...." Williams says "I know, sir". Governor says "There's a leak. Someone is passing on confidential information. One of the members, Williams?" He says "I'd stake my life, sir, no." Soon, a call is made to Mr. Wolfe's office. Archie answers "Nero Wolfe's office. Box 13 - Speed to Burn
Thursday Jun 04, 2026
Thursday Jun 04, 2026
Dan Holiday receives a letter in his Box 13 that reads "Box 13, care of the Star Times. I've read your advertisement asking for adventure. I think this will be it. I'm asking you solve an impossible situation, but one that must be solved next Wednesday. Drive out on Route 36 at exactly noon. You'll come to a five mile speedometer check. Maintain a speed of seventy two miles an hour over the distance. You will be passed by a 1938 car, going one hundred miles per hour, that will sound its horn. When you hear it, pull over to the side and stop". Dan says "This letter has no signature, but it sounds intriguing". Susie says "A hundred miles an hour, Mr. Holiday. That's dangerous". Dan says "Yes it is, Susie. that's what makes this letter so interesting. I'd like to see a 1938 model do a hundred". Susie asks "Why, isn't it possible?" Dan says "Possible yes, but not probable". Susie says "Oh, and the letter isn't signed". Dan says "That's another thing that tells me to take this on. An unsigned letter, a 1938 car doing a hundred, and an impossible situation that has to be solved. Now, I ask you, Susie, wouldn't that make anyone prick up his ears?". Exactly at noon that Wednesday, Dan did everything the letter specified. He turned onto Highway 36, found the speedometer sign, and sped his car up to seventy two miles per hour. In his rearview mirror, Dan soon saw a car come up behind him quickly, and then pass him honking it's horn. He pulled over to the side of the road. The passing car slowed down, made a U-turn, and came back to Dan's car. A lady gets out and says "Hello there. You're Box 13?" Dan says "That's right". She says "Thank you for coming. May I get into your car?" Dan says "Please do". She gets in and says "Thank you. I've taken a big chance in doing this, Mister .... " Dan says "Holiday, Dan Holiday". She says "My name is Nancy Peters. I haven't much time, but I want you to help my brother, Tom". Dan asks "Is he the impossible situation?" Nancy says "Yes, he has a prison record. Now, he's mixed up in something he can't get away from".

Wednesday Jun 03, 2026
Slate and Saylor are out fishing for marlin in the Caribbean on the Bold Venture. Slate says "Ah, look at him, Saylor. Did you ever in your life see a beauty like that? That marlin, what a beauty. What a fight he gave me. He must weigh three hundred pounds". Saylor says "Three hundred pounds? How come I can lift him with one hand?" Slate says "What do I know about the talents of weightlifters? I tell you that marlin .... "Suddenly, the motor on the Bold Venture starts running very rough. Saylor says "See what happens when you talk like that? Even boat motors can't take it". Slate says "I don't understand it, she's been running like a dream. Here, grab the wheel, Saylor. I'll take a look". After a couple of minutes, Saylor asks "What's wrong, Slate? He says "It sounds like there's dirt in the fuel line. Choke it, sailor, give it the choke". Saylor asks "Think you can nurse it along till we get back to Havana?" Slate says "No, I'd like to clean it out". Saylor says "Maybe we can get some help". Slate says "Sure, maybe we could bring up a mermaid mechanic". Saylor says "We could do that, or we could hail that ketch drifting off our port bow In the cove there". Slate says "What?" Saylor says "I can make out her name, the Golden Swan. What do you say, Slate, should I hail her?" Slate says "In between chokes, Saylor, who knows? She might lay an egg with a clean fuel line in it". Saylor and Slate yell "Ahoy, Golden Swan, ahoy", several times, but get no response. Slate says "There's no one on deck, not a sign of movement". Saylor asks "What do we do?" Slate says "We board her". Once they get on deck, Saylor says "I've never walked through a ghost ship before". They soon find the captain's table with a banquet of food set out, but no sign of life. Saylor says "Who walks away from things like that?" Slate says "A ketch riding off an uncharted key without a soul aboard. I don't understand it. Come on, Saylor, there's something about a deserted ship that brings out the lonely in me". Saylor says "Maybe we could tow her back. Finders keepers, you know". Slate says "No, I don't want her. She's too rich for my blood, come on".

Suspense - Six Feet Under
Tuesday Jun 02, 2026
Tuesday Jun 02, 2026
Jack works for the Carnival in a side show act. He is billed as "The Man Buried Alive". He spends ten hours a day, six feet under in a coffin-like box without food or water. There is an air pump keeping him alive, and a light on his face so the patrons can pay to see him and talk with him. When the show closes for the night, he is dug up. As soon as he is finished for the day, Jack heads to the nearest bar, to try to forget all the crazy things that he has been thinking about down there. The bartender says "What will it be?" Jack says "Double whisky with a beer chaser". After giving Jack his drink, the bartender asks "Are you with the carnival?" Jack says "Yeah". Bartender says "It must be interesting. What do you do?" Jack says "We got a side show. Fill this up will you?" Bartender says "Sure. What's your trick, sword swallower?" Jack says "No, I roll over and play dead". Bartender says "Oh, you're the guy that's buried alive. I saw you this afternoon at the matinee. Took the kids over". Jack says "What are you raising, a couple of undertakers?" Bartender says "Oh, I didn't take them in your tent. It seemed kind of a morbid thing for kids". Jack says "But not for you". Bartender says "What do you mean?" Jack says "Skip it. How about hitting this glass again". Bartender says "Okay. A lot of people see that act of yours. The tent was crowded. I kind of thought it'd be different". Jack says "How different?" Bartender says "Paying a dime just to look down at you through that glass. It's not a bad racket you got out there". Jack says "Yeah, a big fat happy racket, not tough like standing behind a bar and breathing and eating and moving whenever you want. Well, if you think it's so hot, dig yourself a hole and pull up a coffin. Nobody's stopping you". Bartender says "If you want another drink, call me". Jack says "Just leave the bottle. I'm still alive, I can pour my own". Bartender says "Suit yourself, friend".

A man named Stanley Fenton is walking down Cherry Street, looking for someone, and to settle an old score. Suddenly, an old bum named Shiller comes up to him and says "Mister, lousy night, huh? Fog cuts right through you. Goes right into your bones. You know, a cup of coffee would feel real good inside of me". Stanley says "So would a bottle of Sneaky Pete, huh?" Shiller says "Oh, no. Not me, mister. Just a dime for a cup of coffee, that's all". Stanley says "How about a dollar?" Shiller says "A buck? Thanks, mister". Stanley says "Hold it. Uh, you haven't earned it yet". Shiller says "Earned it? You mean you want me to work for the dollar? Stanley says "All I want is information". Shiller says "Well, sure. You just ask me anything you want". Stanley says "I'm looking for Jerry's Bar and Grill". Shiller says "Sure. You just go straight along Cherry Street to, um, uh, to Westcott. That's right. Westcott. It's only two or three blocks. Then, you just turn to your left. No, to your right. Your right, and you'll see Jerry's Bar. You can't miss the sign. You'll see it right away. Now, uh, how about that dollar, mister". Stanley says "Ah, you're not finished yet". Shiller says "Oh, you want to know something else?" Stanley says "Where's the Ace Pool Room?" Shiller says "Oh, it's on Cherry Street before you make the turn on Westcott". Stanley says "Now, one more thing. Where do I find Paul Darion? He lives in this area". Shiller says "Paul, huh? Uh, let me see. Uh, oh, yeah. Yeah, sure. Paul, I remember now. Oh, I seen him lots of times". Stanley says "He has a deep scar on his face". Shiller says "Yeah. Yeah, sure. A scar. That's right. You can't help noticing it". Stanley gets angry and says "Why you, I ought to ...." Shiller says "Don't hurt me, mister". Stanley says "Paul doesn't have any scar". Shiller says "I didn't need no harm, mister. All I want is something to drink and a warm place to sleep. That's all". Stanley says "Here's the dollar. Take it before I change my mind". Shiller says "Thanks, mister. I wish I could help you. You must want this fellow real bad". Stanley says "Yeah. Real bad".

Matt Cvetic meets with his FBI contact on the street. A guy comes up to Matt and says "Hey buddy, you got a match?" Matt says "Here, keep them. It's a red nine today". The guy says "Tomorrow's a red eight. Hello, Matt. It's been a long time since we worked together". Matt asks "When did you get transferred from Detroit, Ed?" He says "A month ago. Oh, here comes our car. Hop in back with me". They get in and Ed says "Okay, Glen, take off". Matt says "Let's make it fast. You know how the party checks on my time". Ed says "I wish we could offer you more protection, Matt". He says "I know. I'm on my own". Ed says "The report?" Matt says "A new Soviet agent has arrived from Leninian Institute in Russa. A few picked commies have been undergoing training in propaganda and infiltration. I'm one of them". Ed asks "And this new Soviet agent?" Matt says "He is going to meet with us for briefing and an assignment to some important jobs". Ed asks "Anything else?" Matt says "The meeting place is to be changed. This new Soviet agent isn't taking any chances. I don't even know his name, yet". Ed asks "When do you meet him?" Matt says "Tonight at 6:00 o'clock. Better drop me off now. Any place along here". Ed says "Now, pull it up, Glen". Matt asks "Any last instructions?" Ed says "Yes, Matt, I want a full report by mail. Also, let me know by phone, if you can, the name of this new agent, and the location your meeting place". As Matt starts to get out of the car, he says "I'll let you know is it ...." Ed says "Get back in, quick". Matt says "Sure. What's up?" Ed says "That man, walking away from the corner. He was watching us". Matt asks "Who is he?" Ed says "Vasilis Cosstoi, a suspected Soviet agent. He's new here. We had him in the office for a routine check". Matt says "New? That makes him the boy from Leninian Institute". Ed says "Yes, quite possibly. He knows I am FBI, so you better start praying he didn't get a good look at you with me. If he did, and he recognizes you later ...." Matt says "I know what'll happen. I'm in the party, remember?"

Monday Jun 01, 2026
Monday Jun 01, 2026
Boston Blackie is called to a meeting with Mr. Buckley, a new crime boss in the town. As Blackie arrives, he sees a big guy named Tommy standing in the doorway. Blackie says "Okay, block head, move out of the way, will you?" Tommy says "Why should I?" Blackie says "Well, you're too big to squeeze by, and I want in". Tommy says "What do you want in for?" Blackie says "I want to see the boss". Tommy says "Who are you?" Blackie says "I'm Boston Blackie". Tommy says "Yeah? Well, why didn't you say so? Come on. This way". They walk down to the end of a long, dark hallway and stop. Tommy knocks on a door. A voice inside says "Yeah?" Tommy says "Harry, this guy here is Boston Blackie. He wants to see the boss. Open up". Harry says "Sure thing". Tommy says "Harry will take you the rest of the way, Blackie". Harry says "Sure thing, you follow me". They walk down another dark hallway and stop in front of a door. Harry knocks on it. A voice says "Yes?" Harry says "Boston Blackie to see you, Mr. Buckley". He says "Oh, that's fine. Come right in, Blackie. That will be all, Harry. Go back to your post". Buckley notices that Harry has been coughing a lot lately, and asks him "Harry, do you have a cold?" Harry says "Yeah, but I'm doing something about it". After Harry leaves, Buckley says "Well, Blackie, I'm glad to see you". Blackie says "I'm amazed to see you, Buckley, I mean amazed at the ease with which I got in". Buckley says "Country hospitality, Blackie. You forget this is my first venture in the role of a city slicker". Blackie says "And it's your last too, Buckley. I know the kind of jobs you pulled up state and I know you've come here to take a crack at bigger stuff". Buckley says "Don't you think it's strange that I sent for you?" Blackie says "This, I've got to hear". Buckley says "All right, you see I formed a protective agency, Blackie, and you're the president. But, if you interfere in my business, and don't keep Inspector Faraday off my neck, your girlfriend, Mary Wesley, will go to jail for the murder of a man named Henry Dale".

Dragnet - The Big Poison
Sunday May 31, 2026
Sunday May 31, 2026
It was Saturday, September 30th. Detective Sergeants Joe Friday and Ben Romero are working the day shift out of homicide. It was 3:45 PM when Joe arrived to Room 67A, Missing Persons. Ben, already present, says "Hi Joe". Friday says "Hi Ben. Where is Al?" Ben says "He's next door, but will be back in a minute". A short while later, Al comes into the room and says "Sorry to keep you waiting. I was just getting this report straightened out. Here you go". Ben says "Mr. and Mrs. Walter Apperson. How long have they been missing?" Al says "Well, today's the fourth day. They are an elderly couple. One of their next door neighbors got a little worried when he didn't see him around the house. He came in yesterday and filed a 316 on them". Ben says "Let's see. Clarence Stokely. Is that the neighbor?" Al says "Yeah. It says here he lived next to the Apperson's for 28 years. He's never known him to take off like this. He checked the Apperson's cottage out there. Dirty dishes were left on the kitchen table. He said that was not the way the old couple left their house normally". Joe asks " How about friends and relatives?" Al says "Stokely said he called them. None of them have seen or heard from the Apperson's for a week. I checked out two of their three living relatives, a cousin and a niece. They don't know a thing". Joe says "Can I can see that report, Ben?" Ben says "Oh, yeah. Well, how about the third relative? Nephew, is that it, Joe?" He says "Yeah. Frank Apperson. The report says here he goes to a private college out near Monrovia". Al says "Yeah, I haven't been able to contact the kid. He's away on a vacation". Ben asks "Is it possible the old couple might be with him?" Al says "Not according to Stokely. He says the Apperson's seldom spend any time away from their home". Joe says "That's all we've got to go on, huh? Just the neighbor's story?" Al says "Yeah. Oh, he says he checked the garage, too. The Apperson's car is gone". Ben asks "How does that tie in?" Al says "Stokely said that Mr. Apperson hasn't driven the car for the last year and a half".

It was about 11 o'clock at night when he arrived at Wentworth Avenue and Chinatown. All of a sudden, Randy felt hungry for some of Chunuk's fried wonton and almond duck. So, he turns up Wentworth and starts walking toward Chunuk's little restaurant. Just then, he notices something. Every door in the area is closed. Every window is shuttered and not a soul is walking the pavements. A few minutes later, when Randy arrives at the restaurant, He finds it closed. He knocks on the front door, but gets no answer. A few seconds later, Randy hears the sound of a car pulling up at the curb. He turns to see a patrol car. One of the officers gets out, and walks over to him. His partner stays in the car. Randy gets a funny feeling that there is a gun pointed at him. The officer says "Hey you, come away from that door". Randy says "Sure". The officer says "That's good enough. Now, face the building". Randy asks "What is this?" Officer says "Face that way. Get your hands away from your side". Randy says "Sure. Hey, what's the frisk for?" Officer says "Your suit was bulging". Randy says "Well, it's a bad fit. You can't get much for 39.50 these days". Officer says "You're clean". Randy says "Well, I never carry a gun". Officer asks "What's your name?" Randy says "Look, what is all this?" Officer says "I asked you a question". Randy says "Can I get my wallet?" Officer says "Yeah. Now, be careful". Randy says "Oh, I certainly will. The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes - The Three Gables
Saturday May 30, 2026
Saturday May 30, 2026
Dr. Watson, upon walking into Holmes residence after a short absence, says "Good Morning". Holmes says "Ah, Watson, at last". Watson asks "What do you mean "at last?" Holmes says "I was expecting you yesterday. In fact, I was getting rather concerned for your welfare. I sent a message to your house but you weren't there. There is nothing wrong, I hope?" Watson says "Not in the least. I had an invitation to spend the weekend with some friends". Holmes says "Did you indeed. I was quite unable to account for your absence. There were no shocking fatalities reported in the Press, no medical men stricken by unknown tropical diseases. I became a little anxious. You suddenly disappear without a word of explanation". Watson says "I beg your pardon. The fact is I was in two minds whether to accept the invitation, but at last moment I decided it would be childish to refuse. My host and I were at school together. This weekend he and his wife were celebrating their silver wedding anniversary". Holmes says "I'm sorry, Watson, forgive me". Watson says "No, no, it was thoughtless me to go without mentioning ..." Holmes says "No, not in the least. Though I admit I was worried for your safety. Tell me, when you arrived did that chap outside give you any trouble?" Watson says "I didn't see anyone outside". Holmes says "Well, you couldn't have missed him, a gigantic black man wearing a suit of yellow and tan checks. It was quite remarkable. He's been hanging about on the opposite pavement ever since breakfast". Watson says "Oh, there was no one in the street at all, except Mrs. Hudson on her way to the shops". Holmes says "Really? He must have grown tired of waiting and taken himself off. Well, no matter, you're here safe and sound, and I fancy we may have a curious case to investigate. This letter arrived by the morning post. Yes, see for yourself. It was dated yesterday, and sent from The Three Gables, Harrow Weald".

Dangerous Assignment - Investigate Flying Saucers
Friday May 29, 2026
Friday May 29, 2026
Steve Mitchell walks into the Commissioner's office and says "You know this better be important because there is a certain redhead who was just dying to go for a long ride in the country today. Now, I can't even give her a chance to walk back". The Commissioner says "This is important, Steve. Ever hear of Triangle Airlines?" Steve says "No". The Commissioner says "It's an American charter outfit owned by a man named Kovac. They fly cargo across the northern part of South America, from Ecuador to Brazil. In the last ten days, three of their planes have disappeared over the jungle, vanished without a trace. The pilots haven't been heard from since". Steve says "So, a private airline's in trouble. Since when have we been pulling chestnuts out of the fire for outfits like that?" The Commissioner says "Ordinarily we wouldn't be interested, but the circumstances accompanying the disappearance of these cargo planes make them our concern". Steve asks "What circumstances?" Commissioner says "Well um, I don't quite know how to tell you, Steve". He says "Oh, let's not be bashful, Commissioner. What do you mean?" Commissioner says "Flying saucers". Steve asks "What did you say?" Commissioner says "You heard me, flying saucers". Steve says "Commissioner, I'm a pretty patient guy, but if you think I'm going down to South America and start looking for flying saucers ...." Commissioner says "That's just what you are going to do, Steve, and your plane leaves in an hour". Steve says "Oh look, don't tell me you're going to give me a Buck Rogers ray gun to shoot him down with". Commissioner says "This is no joke, Steve. I don't care whether it's flying sauces or flying dish pans, that area is too close to the Panama Canal for comfort. You'll be met in Ecuador by a man named Drake, the chief pilot of the airlines. He'll fill you in on the background. Well, that's it. You've got your assignment. Good luck".

The Adventures of the Falcon - The Case of the Beautiful Bait
Friday May 29, 2026
Friday May 29, 2026
It's Wednesday night in New York City. In a fight arena, Al Lassiter, fight promoter, is eagerly watching one of the boys in the second round of the main event, Joey O'Hara vs. Kid Corsey. Lassiter is a fat little man at ringside who keeps poking the pretty girl sitting next to him with his elbow to call her attention to what excites him. He says "Vickie, that kid's terrific!" Vickie says "Yeah". Lassiter says "Yeah, look at that jab!" Vickie says "Look at it? I felt it". Lassiter says "Wow, there's another! That one hurt!" Vickie says "I'll say, it broke three ribs. Look Al, you don't have to keep giving me the elbow. I'm paying attention". Lassiter says "Oh, I just want you to watch this boy". Vickie says "What do you think I'm watching, the scenery?" Lassiter says "He's dynamite! Come on, Joey, you got him! Keep going! That does it, Corsey's down! Well that's it. Come on let's go". Vickie says "Yeah, it's a pleasure. Next time I go to a fight with you, I'm going into training too". Lassiter says "I've got to get that Joey O'Hara". Vickie says "Get him". Lassiter says "His contract's up. If he's handled right maybe he won't renew with Whitcomb". Vickie asks "How do you handle him right?" Lassiter says "I don't, that's your department". Vickie says "Well, don't you get bright ideas". Lassiter says "You play him along, and before he knows it, his name's on my contract". Vickie says "Did anybody ask me?" Lassiter says "I'm telling you". Vickie says "Well, what if I don't play?" Lassiter says "Now, don't put it like that. Put it if you do play. You know that convertible you've been wanting? If Joey signs with me, it's yours". Vickie says "All of a sudden, Joey interests me". Lassiter says "I've got to sew him up, Vickie. The boy's going places, right to the top. You don't find light heavyweights like him every day. He's young. Who knows, he may put on a few pounds and challenge the big boys. Yes, sir, the kid's dynamite". Vickie says "Yeah, he's dynamite and you want me to light the fuse".

Tales of the Texas Rangers - Death in the Cards
Thursday May 28, 2026
Thursday May 28, 2026
It is 11:30 PM on the night of January 26, at the ranch house of Chester Gentry in Reeves County, Texas. Chester is on the telephone as his stepson, Will, enters the house. Chester says "All right, call me when you find him, Sheriff". Chester hangs up the phone and says "Will, where have you been?" Will says "Just out having a beer. Was that Sheriff Bennett you were talking to?" Chester says "Yeah. Your friend Tobish telephoned you a little while ago". Will says "Tobish? Oh you didn't tell the sheriff about Tobish?" Chester says "I sure did. Sheriff just called to say he located Tobish's rooming house, but he wasn't there". Will says "Pa, I told you a hundred times, it's the worst thing in the world you could do. Tobish finds out, he'll kill me. Maybe he has found out. Maybe he's on his way here to get me. Look, you got to give me the money to pay him off, now". Chester says "No Will. No more money". Will says "Do you know what you're saying? He'll kill me if I don't pay him". Chester says "Now you listen to me, Will. I have reached the end of my rope in this whole rotten mess. I'm through, and you couldn't get another dime from me. I've done everything I can for you, but you're just no good". Will says "Please, Dad I need that dough". Chester says "You shut up and listen to me. When your Mom died, I promised I'd do everything I could for you, and I have. I treated you like you was my own son. I've given you a home, I've given you money, a lot of money, and what have you done with it? You've thrown it away to a slimy gambler named Tobish. For two months this has been going on. For two months you've been bleeding me white to pay off that gambler. I told you to stay away from him, but you didn't. Now, it's high time for me to meet him and tell him face to face to stay away from you". Will says "No, Dad, if you just give me the money this once more, I'll straighten out, I promise". Chester says "That's what you said last week. No, you got yourself into this, now, you can get yourself out".

Michael Shayne, Private Detective - The Strange Business Call
Thursday May 28, 2026
Thursday May 28, 2026
Private Detective Mike Shayne and his assistant, Miss Phyllis Knight, are in their office in the Russ Building when two rather odd characters appeared at their door. The first one says "Uh, Mr. Shayne? My name is Belsay, George, Belsay. My friend here is Richard Stowe. It took considerable persuasion on my part to get Mr. Stowe to come here this afternoon". Stowe says "Well, it's so embarrassing". Phyllis says "We handle many embarrassing problems, Mr. Stowe". Belsay says "Richard's problem is more than embarrassing. It's almost driving him crazy. You see, Richard, is afraid he's going to murder me". Mike says "Could we have that last chorus again?" Belsay says "Well, I don't blame you, sir. You see, Richard thinks he is going to murder me". Stowe says "At least, I'm afraid I might". Belsay says "This is not a practical joke, Mr. Shayne, nor am I crazy". Stowe says "I'm not sure just when it started. I've been very upset in recent months. I guess I've brooded too much". Belsay says "He got so bad, I finally dragged him down to a psychiatrist friend of mine, Dr. Neiman". Mike says "I've heard of him". Stone says "Well, the doctor seemed to help me for a while. My health improved, but then, I began having this dream. it's always the same dream. It never varies in any detail. It's the perfect crime. I kill Mr. Belsay in such a way that the police are completely baffled". Mike says "Which could happen only in a dream, but, uh go on". Stowe says "Well, George Belsay's office is up in the Commerce Building. On the ground floor is a cocktail lounge. In my dream, at about eight o'clock at night, I go into the bar and order a drink. I drink half of it. I tell the bartender that I'm out of cigarettes. I go out to the lobby, but I don't buy cigarettes. I slip through the door on the left and hurry down a hall. I get into the freight elevator. Room 707 is right in front of the elevator. I open the door and walk through two offices. George Belsay's room is the third. I open his door slightly and fire my revolver. It takes only one shot. I then run back down to the bar and finish my drink".

Broadway is My Beat - The Anna Compton Murder Case
Tuesday May 26, 2026
Tuesday May 26, 2026
At 6:00 o'clock in the morning, Detective Danny Clover meets Detective Muggerman, who was already at the scene, a street where Broadway turns a corner into the 40s. Muggerman says "She's in here, Danny, in this car. Right there on the floor in front". Danny asks "Who is she?" Muggerman says "I don't know. She had no identification, no handbag. We found only the registration and a pair of slippers in the glove compartment. The car was registered to Edward Bishop, 1110 160th Street". Danny asks "Who found her?" Muggerman says "Officer Kaplan. He tagged it late last night for a parking violation. At 5:00 o'clock when he was going off duty, he noticed the car still wasn't moved. He opened it and looked. He found her under that blanket. I'd say she was about twenty seven years old". Danny says "She was shot once in the back, from up close". Muggerman says "Yeah, her death was probably instantaneous". As the coroner shows up, Muggerman says "In the front of the car, Doc. Hey, your the new doctor, aren't you?" Danny says "Don't move her, Doc. Wait for the photographers". The new doctor is just standing there, looking at the body. Muggerman says "You'll get used to it, kid. This kind of thing happens a lot". Later, Danny is at the address on the registration slip. He knocks on the door. The man that answers says "You're an early bird mister". Danny says "Police". The man says "Early bird out to catch a worm, huh mister? Not me, not for something I've done. I never do anything bad". Danny asks "Are you Edward Bishop?" The man says "Oh, not me. I'm Blackburn. Mr. Bishop's my roommate. Has he gone and done something naughty? Come in mister and tell me all about it". Danny asks "Where is he?" Blackburn says "Oh, out frying his nightly kettle of fish I presume. His bed ain't been slept in". Danny asks "Has he been seeing anyone?" Blackburn says "Well, my roommate is tight-lipped, but he's been squiring a married lady by the name of Anna Compton".

Mrs. Grogan says "Another cup of tea, Mrs. Dennis?" She says "No, no, I thank you kindly". Mrs. Grogan says "Would you believe you're the first visitor I've had in over two weeks? Ah, but not the last, Mrs. Dennis. This house will be that full of visitors before another week's out. All my old friends will be suddenly start remembering me". Mrs. Dennis says "I don't know to what you're referring, Mrs. Grogan". She says "Why, to the story in the newspaper yesterday about me. They called me Lady Miser of Lundy Lane. It was all about how I don't trust banks and how I have fifty thousand dollars hidden around the house". Mrs. Dennis says "If you think for one moment .... " Mrs. Grogan says "All that read the story will believe it, Mrs. Dennis, just like you did. They will all be visiting me now. However, there ain't a word of the story true. I made it all up. It was only a trick of mine to relieve the loneliness. I got tired of looking at the four walls with never a new face". Mrs. Dennis says "Well, I never. I'm taking myself out of this house. Lying to your friends about being rich. You will not be seeing me again, Mrs. Grogan. I assure you". Mrs. Dennis gets up and leaves. Soon afterword, two men ring Mrs. Grogan's doorbell. She opens the door and says "Yes?" One of the men says "Afternoon, ma'am. Could we speak to Mrs. Grogan?" She says "Ah, you've got your wish, young man". He says "Me and my friend have a little business proposition we want to talk over with you. Could we come in?" Mrs. Grogan says "Yes, you're always welcome, young man. Come in. Now, maybe you'll be having a cup of tea while we talk business. Hey, no doubt it's regarding the money of mine you read about in the newspaper". He says "Yes, ma'am. It's about the dough, but we can't stay for tea. Quick, grab her, Wilson. Get her tied up, stick a gag in her mouth. I'll start looking for the dough".

Walk Softly, Peter Troy - The Iron Maiden
Monday May 25, 2026
Monday May 25, 2026
It was a quiet morning in the office, when Peter and Julie, his secretary, were sharing a moment of what could be called togetherness. Julie says "Come closer to me, Pete". He says "Is that better?" Julie says "That's fine. Turn your head up to me". Peter says "Anything you say, honey". Julie says "That's perfect". Peter says "You say the nicest things. Oh, and you smell very lovely. You know that perfume you're wearing, it does things to me, honey". Julie says "Oh, Pete, now you've ruined everything". Peter says "I have? What did I say?" Julie says "You blinked, just when I had that speck in your eye where I wanted it. I had the handkerchief ready". Peter says "I think it's gone, anyway". Julie says "Let me see. Hold still". Suddenly, there is a knock at the door. A young lady walks in to the office and says "I hope I'm not intruding, but your door was open". Peter says "Uh, no, no, not at all. Come in". She says "I was looking for a Mr. Peter Troy". Peter says "Oh, that's me. And this is my secretary, Miss Summers". The young lady says "How do you do? I'm Bonnie Young and I haven't made an appointment, Mr. Troy, I just dropped in on the off chance that you might be able to spare me a few minutes, but if I've come at an awkward time ...." Julie says "Not at all, Miss Young. I was just trying to take a speck of dust out of Mr. Troy's eye". Bonnie says "I see". Peter says "You don't, but it's the truth just the same. Well, sit down Miss Young. What can I do for you?" Bonnie tells Peter and Julie about her eccentric Aunt Sarah, and the original will she left behind for the disposition of her stately home. Bonnie believed that a subsequent will may have been drawn up, and hires Peter to locate it.

Mr. and Mrs. North - Two Deaths for a Hero
Monday May 25, 2026
Monday May 25, 2026
Ralph Sears, reporter and book author, has learned of the tragic news concerning the death of Dr. Maxwell Packer, a legendary philanthropist, scientist, and explorer. The newspaper headlines read "Nation Mourns Maxwell Packer". Ralph suddenly gets an idea, and soon meets with Jerry and Pam, of North Publishing. Ralph reads the obituary "As the body of Dr. Maxwell Packer was laid to rest on his palatial estate this morning, this nation and the entire free world mourn the loss of the man." He says "You see, Jerry? The man is a legend. A book that tells the real story of Maxwell Packer will have everything, romance, adventure ...." Jerry says "Okay, Ralph, I'm convinced". Ralph says "It will also have charity, and mystery" Jerry says "That's the hitch, right there". Ralph asks "What hitch?" Jerry says "The mystery. The way Packer always kept his personal life separated from his life as a public figure". Ralph says "You think I can't get past the gate at a Packer estate? I've chased dictators, foreign ministers, and generals all over three continents, I can... " At that moment, Pam walks into the room looking for Holly, their secretary. Jerry says "Oh, come on in, Pam. You know Ralph Sears, don't you?" Ralph says "Hi, Mrs. North. Nice to see you again". Pam says "Mr. Sears, of course. I didn't recognize you". Jerry says "Pam, darling, you can't say that to a best-selling author". Ralph says "No, especially not me. I'm the sensitive type". Jerry says "Yeah, Ralph Sears, the demure meat cleaver". Ralph says "Hey, that's pretty good. Can I use it someplace?" Jerry says "Ralph here has been trying to convince me that he can cleave through the secret life of Dr. Packer". Pam says "That would make a wonderful book. He certainly was a great man". Ralph says "There, you see, Jerry? Packer's death is a national tragedy. Who wouldn't want to know what makes a man like that tick?" Jerry says "Well, no one has ever been able to get close to him or his family. Mrs. Packer has practically been a recluse since Packer became ill. You think she'll see you, Ralph?" He says "I'm having tea with her tomorrow afternoon at the Packer estate".

Sunday May 24, 2026
Sunday May 24, 2026
Dr. Carhouse is late for a meeting with his financial sponsors, Mr. Blake, Mr. Dunn, and Mr. Fulton, and they are all becoming impatient. Miss Gladys Phelps, the doctor's secretary, is attempting to keep these gentlemen calm. Blake says "Miss Phelps, when is Dr. Carhouse going to be here?" Gladys says "Why ah ...." Dunn says "He might at least, be prompt. After all, we are his financial backers". Gladys says "I know, Mr. Dunn". Fulton says "As such, we're certainly entitled to better treatment than this". Gladys says "Of course, Mr. Fulton". Dunn says "Considering the fact that we've advanced close to 50,000 dollars for his sonic research, so far". Gladys says "I know you have gentlemen". Blake says "Now look, Miss Phelps, have you any idea where he is?" She says "He's probably at Columbus Circle, 59th Street and Broadway". Fulton says "Oh no, not again". Dunn says "More speeches?" Gladys says "Dr. Carhouse was feeling very good when he left here and, as you know, he usually makes speeches when he feels good". Blake says "Yes, flowery ones, too. Although you'd never guess it from the way he talks normally, abrupt and to the point". Fulton says "I'm not going to have my dignity trifled with any longer. If the doctor doesn't show up in five minutes, I'm going to consider the money I've invested so far in that nincompoop lost. Now, you and Blake and carry on with the financing if you're mad enough to do so". Blake says "Now, Fulton ...." He says "No, I mean it, Blake, I've had enough". At that moment, Dr. Carhouse walks into the room. He says "Gladys, you should have been there. I made a great speech to a crowd of about thirty people. I told them what I thought about governments. They were impressed". Gladys says "Doctor, your appointment". Carhouse says "Oh, I see. All licking your chops, eh?" Fulton says "That's what I mean, Blake. Now see here doctor, I'm a man of some importance in the banking world". Blake says "Now, calm down, Fulton". Dunn says "Yes, let's at least, see what the doctor has to show us".

Whitehall 1212 - Case of the Weed Eradication
Sunday May 24, 2026
Sunday May 24, 2026
Superintendent Frederick George Abbott from Scotland Yard is sent to Hay, in Wales. Hay is a little town, an old one, and a market center along the River Wye and the valley called Cusop Dingle which separates Wales and England. Upon arriving, Abbott sought out the local police, and found Sergeant Catesby Jones. He says "Jones is a common name in Wales, and I have lived here in Hay all my life". Abbott says "Then, I take it that you know this chap quite well". Jones says "Yes, I know the foreigner quite well". Abbott says "Foreigner? I'm talking about ... what's his name?" Jones says "Major Birdsong. Yes, the foreigner. He is an Englishman from Devonshire, isn't it? Where he comes from?" Abbott says "I'm sure I don't know". Jones says "I know about him. He came here long before the war. That would be eight years ago". Abbott says "And he's still the foreigner?" Jones says "Whoever is not born in Hay is a foreigner, superintendent". Abbott asks "What else do you know about him, Sergeant?" Jones says "Well, he became partner to Mr. William Evans, the solicitor, and when Mr. Evans died he succeeded to the business. Then, he went to the wars and came back a major. On his return, he wanted to become a partner of Mr. Arthur Hughes, the other solicitor, but Hughes had a young relation with him in his office. When Hughes died, this young man took over the business by the terms of the will of Mr. Hughes". Abbott asks "What is this young man's name?" Jones says "He is Mr. Owen Davies, who came so near being the late Mr. Owen Davies". Abbott says "I thought it was a maid in Davies house who almost died". Jones says "That is true, of course. But if Davies had eaten one of the chocolates, he might have died, or become seriously ill". Abbott says "You're certain these chocolates were poisoned?" Jones says "Dr. Llewellyn examined them, superintendent". Abbott asks "Then, why do you suspect Major Birdsong? You don't know the chocolates came from him, do you?" Jones says "Who else would have a motive? And besides, isn't he a foreigner?"

The Line-Up - The Big Boy's Brutish Back-Bending Case
Saturday May 23, 2026
Saturday May 23, 2026
Seeing an unknown man come into the line up viewing area, Lieutenant Ben Guthrie says "Mr. Ketchum?" The man says "I'm Ketchum". Ben says "Glad to meet you. Have any trouble finding the place?" Ketchum says "No, I was booked here once for being drunk a year ago last Christmas, it was. I know the place all right. It hasn't changed at all. Too much disinfectant, I smell it everywhere. You think you got him, huh?" Ben says "I don't know for sure". Ketchum says "The license plate number I gave you, I was right, wasn't I?" Ben says "We'll see. Do you want a smoke?" Ketchum says "Oh, thanks". Instead of Sergeant Grebb, Sergeant Pete Koger starts the line up by explaining the process to the witnesses. As the line up proceeds, Mr. Ketchum identifies inmate number three, Edward Franklin. Ben says "Sergeant Koger, hold number three for interrogation". Later, in his office, Ben and Pete are questioning Edward. Ben says "Tell us what you were doing out at the quarry last night". Edward says "I rented a car to take a look at this town. I thought I might like to work around here, so I just drove around yesterday, that's all. I happened to turn the car around when I got out by the quarry". Pete says "That was about 8:00 o'clock, was it?" Edward says "No, it was almost 10:00 o'clock". Pete asks "Where'd you drive?" Edward says "Oh, just around, all over". Ben asks "Do you remember any of the other streets you were on?" Edward says "No, not by name. One of them had a lot of drive-in theaters along the way". Later, in the interrogation, Ben says "Ed, do you have any idea why our witness would tell us he saw you dump a man's body in the quarry, take down your license plate number, and tell the police?" Edward says "No, he must be crazy, seeing things". Ben says "Okay Ed". He asks "Are we through?" Ben says "For the time being". Pete escorts Edward back to the jail. Ben soon gets a call from the dispatcher. He says "Sergeant Quine called in from the quarry. They just found a body".

The Chase - The Jail Break
Saturday May 23, 2026
Saturday May 23, 2026
Inspector Donley gets a message on the intercom letting him know that Detective Neilson has arrived. Donley says "Oh, send him in right away". Neilson walks into the office. Donley says "Neilson?" He says "Yes, sir?" Donley says "I'm Inspector Donley. Come in sit down, and never mind the "sir", I'm beginning to feel old enough as it is. Have a good trip from the coast?" Neilson says "Oh, good enough if you like planes. Personally, I don't think they'll ever replace the horse". Donley says "A little bumpy, huh?" Neilson says "Well, we ran into a storm". Donley says "I brought you east because they tell me you're one of the best cops on the west coast. You've handled some tough assignments, but the one I'm asking you to take right now will probably be your toughest and most dangerous. You may want out and I wouldn't blame you if you did. I've got your return ticket to LA here in my desk". Neilson says "Um, well suppose you tell me about it, and let me think it over". Donley asks "Ever hear of Red Monks?" Neilson says "Yes, wasn't he mixed up in running narcotics?" Donley says "Narcotics was only a hobby. He took a crack at everything in the book. We finally picked him up as a fourth offender, but we haven't got his boss. We're sure he was working for someone. A Mr. Big who controlled three-fourths of the rackets between here and Chicago". Neilson asks "Where do I come in?" Donley says "I'm sending you on a chase, Neilson. A chase for information and it may be the roughest chase you ever entered. I picked you for the job for two reasons. One, your record, and two, and just as important, you're not known here on the east coast". Neilson asks "What's the setup, inspector?" Donley says "Now, we just picked up a con named Johnny Hagen several days ago. He's got a long list of suspected felonies and we can put him away for a long time. His arrest hasn't been made known. Hagen was a lone wolf, who always worked by himself. Very few of the underworld have ever seen him". Neilson says "You want me to impersonate him? Is that the deal?"

Let George Do It - The White Elephant
Thursday May 21, 2026
Thursday May 21, 2026
George receives a letter that reads "My dear Mr. Valentine, I don't write letters very often these days. Having friends with whom one exchanges the best of one's mind and heart has rather gone out of fashion. Now, you mustn't misunderstand, Mr. Valentine. My brother and I have enjoyed our life of seclusion. After all, we've lived this way almost entirely, ever since our dear parents died in a train accident and left us alone at the age of ten. I only speak a little sadly because, as every person must, I've been going through the unpleasant task of making out my will, and I think you should be informed of the fact that I'm including you in my will. Yes, Mr. Valentine, I'm leaving you the sum of one thousand dollars. You will receive this legacy when you have caught my murderer. Signed, Miss Alice May Edmund, Number One, Bartholomew Square." George says "That's the commercial district". Brooksie says "And on the letterhead there's an engraving of a white elephant". Soon, George and Brooksie make their way to Miss Edmund's stately mansion. As they approach the front door, a man was quickly exiting. He says "Oh, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Excuse me". George says "No, no, I was just going to ring the bell". Brooksie asks "Is this Number One, Bartholomew Square?" The man says "Go away, no peddlers or agents allowed, no soliciting noise". Brooksie says "Oh, but we're not peddlers". The man says "I'm saving you trouble, that's all. You'll only have an iron deer thrown at you. That isn't a house, it's a booby hatch. A forty-two room booby hatch". George says "Okay, friend, okay, thanks very much, goodbye". The man says "All right, go on in, but me, I'll still go out. I'm warning you, someday I'm going to kill that woman in there". As he leaves, Brooksie says "What do you suppose is the matter with him?" George says "Hey, look, Angel, three stories high, and gardens". Brooksie says "Right in the middle of the city". George says "Yeah, a whole block of a house". Brooksie says "It's white, George, painted white". George says "Guess this is it, Brooksie, the white elephant".

The FBI in Peace and War - Lucky Smith
Thursday May 21, 2026
Thursday May 21, 2026
When the uranium boom hit the western states several years ago, the usual quota of swindlers and shady dealers came along with it. Among these was Elliot Dudley, alias Lucky Smith, and his partner Samuel "Slippery" Carter. Armed with a fake Giger counter, the scheme rigged up by these two was simple. Smith would pose as the head of a uranium prospecting enterprise, and Carter would be a field agent for the Atomic Energy Commission. They would get a land owner to allow them access to their property, supposedly find uranium there, then convince them to invest in the excavation. The first victims were well-to-do sheep ranchers named Oliver and Edna Melton. After Smith obtained their permission, he set out from the Melton home to discover uranium. As he was leaving, Oliver says "Well, good luck Mr. Smith. You know I don't think there's ten cents worth of uranium within a hundred miles of here, but good luck anyhow". Smith says "Thanks, Mr. Melton. Goodbye, Mrs. Melton. I'll keep in touch with you". Oliver says "Yeah, you do that. He's quite a character, isn't he?" Edna says "He's quite a beer drinker if you ask me". Oliver says "Oh, Edna, we don't get many visitors out here. It's nice to talk to somebody once in a while". Edna says "Seems to me he did most of the talking. You want lunch?" Oliver says "Yeah". Edna asks "How much did he pay you for letting him go poking around on our land?" Oliver says "Now Edna, you don't understand". Edna says "Just because they found uranium over in Colorado, it doesn't mean there's any here. I'd have got some money out of them anyway". Oliver says "Edna, we'll get a percentage of anything he finds on our land. That certainly is fair enough, now isn't it?" Edna says "What's he going to find up on those hills? Even the sheep won't go up there. If you ask me, I don't like the whole idea". Oliver says "Well, why Edna?" She says "I don't know why. I just don't like it". Oliver says "All right, let's have lunch". Edna says "Well, don't snap my head off. Just because you didn't get any money from the man's no reason to be irritable".

Casey, Crime Photographer - The Treasure Cave
Wednesday May 20, 2026
Wednesday May 20, 2026
It is early evening, at the Blue Note Cafe. Leaning happily on the bar is Captain Logan, Chief of the Homicide Bureau, and Ethelbert, the head bartender, who has a look of unconcealed envy. Ethelbert says "You and Casey are going to have three whole days at Red Lake Cabin with nothing to do but fish, huh?" Logan says "That's the program, Ethelbert. We're driving up there tonight". Ethelbert says "Some guys have all the luck". Logan says "Yeah. It's the first time that Casey and I have both been free at the same time. I'm finally getting a chance to make the lug eat some of those tall fish stories he tells us". Ethelbert says "That I'd like to see happen. To hear Casey tell it, he's a better fisherman than even Jonah". Logan says "Yeah. Uh, Jonah?" Ethelbert says "Yeah. Didn't he catch a whale named Moby Dick?" Logan says "Moby Dick. Ethelbert, I always learn things from you". Anne says "Good evening, gentlemen". Ethelbert says "Oh, here comes...." Logan says "Hi, guys. Hello, Casey. Here's a stool for you, Miss Williams". Ethelbert says "Captain Logan's just been telling me you and him are driving to Red Lake tonight, Casey". He says "Yeah, the Red Lake trip is off". Logan says "Huh?" Casey says "Yeah. City desk just handed us a special assignment, Logan. We've got to be in Titustown tomorrow". Logan says "Is he kidding, Miss Williams?" Anne says "No, Captain. We're going to Titustown". Logan says "Casey, I bet you asked for that assignment. You know darn well if we went fishing together, I'd call the bluff you've been making for years". Casey says "Hold it, Junior. You and I are still going fishing tomorrow". Logan says "But, you're going to Titustown". Casey says "Lake Hopatobi, one of the best fishing spots in this state, is only a few miles from Titustown, pal". Logan says "Hey, that's right". Ethelbert says "Hey, uh, ain't Treasure Cave near Titustown? Casey says "Just outside the village". Ethelbert says "So you're going to investigate the mysterious deaths there?" Anne says 'Yes, and write an on-the-spot feature story for the edition".

Mr. Chameleon - The Dream House Murder Case
Tuesday May 19, 2026
Tuesday May 19, 2026
In the charming home of Phillip and Molly Adams, Phillip says "Molly, do you still think this is the most wonderful house in the world?" Molly says "Of course I do, Phillip, and so do you". Phillip says "I did at first, but now ...." Molly says "But now what, silly?" Phillip says "Do you ever get a feeling there's something strange about it?" Molly says "What?" Phillip says "Something dreadful, something fearful?" Molly asks "What on earth are you talking about?" Phillip says "Molly, I've got to tell you the truth. I can't stand living here any longer. I had a premonition that if we keep on living here, something unspeakably terrible will happen to us". Molly says "Phillip, darling, you've been working too hard. You need a rest". Phillip says "A rest? I walk the floors of this house all night, and think of it all day. Let's get rid of it. You love me, don't you?" Molly says "Yes, dear, and that's why I won't let you give up our dream house". At that moment, the doorbell rings. Molly says "I'll answer it. Oh, Mrs. Wahl, come in". Mrs. Wahl says "While you were out, somebody left this package for you at my house". Molly says "Oh thanks, Mrs. Wahl". She says "Oh, no trouble at all, Molly. Good evening, Phillip. How are you?" Phillip says "I'm alright, Mrs. Wahl, but Molly thinks I'm crazy". Molly says "What? I don't think any such thing. Phillip has a silly idea something dreadful will happen to us if we stay living here". Mrs. Wahl says "Well, I guess that's something for you to settle between yourselves. Uh, I've got to run back home, bye". As Mrs. Wahl leaves, Molly says "Well, I wonder what's in this package?" She opens it and says "Look, Phillip, it's a perfectly beautiful cake". Phillip says "Throw that cake away, Molly. You don't know where it came from". Molly says "It came from Ballard's Bakery". Phillip says "It might be poisoned". Molly says "They don't make poison cake. Just to show you how silly you are, Phillip, I'm going to cut a piece and eat it". She takes a bite and says "It's a little stale, but tastes marvelous". Suddenly, she starts choking, and says "Phillip, help me! I'm dying!" and falls to the floor!"

The Adventures of Philip Marlowe - The Hairpin Turn
Tuesday May 19, 2026
Tuesday May 19, 2026
Philip Marlowe is ringing the doorbell at the Vanneman Mansion. An older man opens the door and says "Yes?". Marlowe says "I'm Philip Marlowe to see Mr. Vanneman, Enoch Vanneman. I have an appointment". The man says "Oh, come in, Mr. Marlowe. I'm Enoch Vanneman. Glad you're here. Step this way will you? We'll talk in the study". Suddenly, several gun shots are heard somewhere nearby! Marlowe says "Uh, Mr. Vanneman, were those pistol shots?" Vanneman says "Yes, that's Kay, my niece. She's a champion pistol shot. She converted one of the garages into a target range". Marlowe says "Well, I seem to recall a city ordinance that says ...." Vanneman says "I know all about that ordinance, Mr. Marlowe, save your breath". Marlowe says "Oh, it's like that". Vanneman says "Precisely. Sit down, please. Breaking the city ordinance is a perfect example of all the crackpot things that headstrong young fool insists on getting mixed up in". Marlowe says "And you want me to get mixed up with the crackpot, huh?" Vanneman says "Yeah. She has no more sense in her choice of male companions than she does in her hobbies. And she's a very rich girl". Marlowe says "Now look, if this is a body guarding assignment, Mr. Vanneman, I want to tell you ..,." Vanneman says "Kay has been going with a man named Cliff Lace, an unsavory type at least. He was a professional horse player, I think, and it was quite an affair". Marlowe says "Was quite an affair?" Vanneman says "That's right. She threw Lace over for a new love recently. A fellow I've never met. She's serious but refuses to tell me anything about him. Now, since her breakup with Lace, a man has been snooping around the grounds here. He's about forty years old, short, with a flabby kind of face, and a mole on the right side of his nose". Marlowe says "Hey, I may know that character, Mr. Vanneman. I'll have to check to be sure". Vanneman says "Marlowe, I want to know who he is and why he's been hanging around here. Also, I want to find out all there is to know about Kay's new man".

The Whistler - Deadly Innocent
Monday May 18, 2026
Monday May 18, 2026
Lambert Dean and Joe Carson, as children, they were the best of friends. However, for the past twenty five years, there has been a deep animosity growing between them. Both have been, and continue to be, employed at the Mammoth Construction Company, owned by a man named Jennings. Lambert's position has remained steady as the company bookkeeper, whereas Joe's position has advanced to the point where he became the president of the company, at Mr. Jennings retirement. No doubt that his corporate success was helped by the fact that he married Jennings daughter, Betty. The hate that Lambert felt for Joe has become an all-consuming passion. That's why he has come down to the offices of the Mammoth Construction Company at 9 o'clock at night. Lambert walks into Joe's office and says "Hello Joe". He says "What are you doing here?" Lambert says "Why, did I startle you, Joe? I'm so sorry". Joe says "What do you mean by busting into my office? Can't you knock?" Lambert says "Oh, sure, Joe. I'd never think of walking into the president's office without knocking during working hours. I didn't think it would matter tonight". Joe says "Anytime I'm here is working hours. Remember that if you want to stay at your job. Now get out". Lambert says "Well, don't you want to know why I came down tonight?" Joe says "I do not. Any fool could take care of the bookkeeping department in the daytime. If you have to work nights to keep up with a simple routine, that's your problem". Lambert says "I don't have to work on them. They're all fixed up just the way I want them. I came here to tell you about them, Joe. Better listen now if you want to hear it at all". Joe says "How many times have I got to tell you to get... What do you mean, better listen?" Lambert says "Tomorrow will be too late. This is the end of the line for you, Joe. Tomorrow I'll move into your office. Pretty soon I'll move into your house with Betty. Before long I'll own Mammoth". Joe says "You're crazy". Lambert says "Like a fox. I'm going to kill you, Joe".

The Man Called X - Dope Smuggling
Sunday May 17, 2026
Sunday May 17, 2026
Returning to the US through the international airport at Los Angeles, Pagon is at the US Customs station with merchandise he recently obtained in Mexico. He says "Pagon Zeldschmitt is the name, inspector. Vice President of the Ox Tail Beverage Company, bottlers of the famous soft drink ...." The inspector says "Never heard of it". Pagon says "Oh, you will my good man, you will". The inspector says "Yeah, I'll hold my breath. Alright, unlock your bag". Pagon says "Sure, why not? I've just got this one bag". The inspector asks "What's in those little boxes?" Pagon says "Oh, just some spices and herbs". The inspector asks "What kind of spices and herbs?" Pagon says "All kinds". The inspector says "Hey, look out, you're going to knock that box off the table". Pagon says "Oops". Inspector says "Oh fine, busted wide open". Pagon says "Well that's okay. I can just gather it together". Inspector says "Hey, wait a second. Let me look at that". Inspector says "All kinds is right, huh, including opium!" Pagon says "Opium? but, but, but ..." Inspector says "Stay where you are. You're under arrest!" Pagon says "Well, I demand a habeas corpus, I want a lawyer, I want my congressman, I want Mr. X!" Later, Ken Thurston is speaking to the Chief in his office. The Chief says "Actually, Ken, this doesn't surprise me a bit. I hate to say I told you so, but ...." Ken says "But you will. Is that it, Chief?" He says "Yes, confound it, Zeldschmitt is a conniving swindling little two-bit crook who'd sell out anybody, including you, at the drop of a hat". Ken says "Sure, I know that". Chief says "Well, if you know it, why do you let him hang around you? Ken says "Oh, a lot of reasons. Chief, he's useful for one thing. He has shady contacts all over the world, and he'll sell out the other side. Anyway, I kind of like him". Chief says "Even when he's caught red handed smuggling opium?" Ken says "Ah, I simply can't buy that one. The opium racket just doesn't fit Pagon's personality. I think he's been made the fall guy for somebody, whom I'll know more about when I get back from Los Angeles.

21st Precinct - The Platform
Sunday May 17, 2026
Sunday May 17, 2026
Captain Frank Kennelly, in command of the 21st Precinct, was working the night shift, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 AM. It was a busy night in the precinct. At 9:20 PM, Patrolman Joseph McGill rang in stating that he had reason to believe there was a dice game in progress in the rear of a barbershop on his post. The desk officer, Lieutenant Harry Snyder, conveyed this information to Kennelly, who instructed him to notify the 6th Division plainclothes men whose job it is to enforce the laws relating to gambling. With the assistance of Patrolman McGill, two men from Sector Car number two, and Captain Kennelly, the suspected premises were raided. Seventeen men were placed under arrest. The patrol wagon was summoned, and they were brought to the station house for booking. The muster room was swarming with suspects and police officers. Meanwhile, a lady had arrived at the precinct and was waiting to speak with a police officer. Sergeant Waters, who is answering the phones, says "It will be just a minute, lady". Kennelly says "You take the calls, Sergeant, I'll talk to the lady". He turns to her and says "I'm Captain Kennelly". She says "How do you do?" Kennelly says "It's awfully busy here. Supposing you step into my office". She says "All right. I don't mean to be any bother". Kennelly says "In here, please". She asks "Is it like that all the time? So busy?" he says "Not all the time, no. Would you sit down, uh ...." She says "Mrs. Tarpan, Mrs. Eva Tarpan". Kennelly says "Ah, would you sit down, Mrs. Tarpan?" Eva says "Thank you". Kennelly asks "Well, what can we do for you?" Eva says "I've been married for fifteen years, but if I tell you, I might as well move out, or get kicked out". Kennelly asks "Is it something about your husband?" Eva says "Yes. And no, it's about his brother". What's the trouble with him?" Eva says "He's crazy, insane". Kennelly says "Well, Mrs. Tarpan, that's not our job". Eva says "He shot his wife, killed her". Kennelly asks "When did this happen?" Eva says "Six or seven weeks ago at his home in Brooklyn". Kennelly asks "Has he been arrested?" Eva says "No, they're looking for him".

Saturday May 16, 2026
Saturday May 16, 2026
Rick is in his office when the phone rings. He answers and says "Diamond Detective Agency, if your husband's dead and you pulled the trigger, Diamond will help, but the fee is bigger. Hello?" Helen says "Oh, you idiot". Rick says "Hi, Baby, what's doing?" Helen says "Oh, I was just a little lonesome. I wanted to know if you were coming by tonight". Rick says "You know it. Should be there around eight. How about a little...." Helen says "Hey Rick, what is that, a siren? Is there a fire?" Rick says "Could be. Sounds like it's pulling right up here in front of my building. Wait a minute, I'll open the window". Helen says "Now, Rick, if there's a fire, you get right out of there. Well, what is it?" Rick says "It's an ambulance, followed by a patrol car. Must be a traffic accident or something". Helen says "Oh, thank goodness". Rick says "Well, somebody probably playing in the traffic". Helen says "Oh, Rick". Just then, Rick hears someone knocking on his office door. He says "No combination. Just turn the knob and push". Helen asks "Who is it?" Rick says "Somebody at the door. Well, Pop". Helen says "What?" Rick says "It's Pop Scholes". Helen says "Oh, the nice old blind man who sells pencils on the corner". Rick says "Yeah. Hello, Pop". He says "Please, Mr. Diamond, I've got to talk to you. I ain't got much time". Helen asks "What does he want, Rick?" He says "Oh, to talk to me. I'll call you back there. Bye". Pop says "I'm sorry to bother you, Mr. Diamond". Rick says "Not at all, Pop. Not at all. What can I do for you?" Pop says "I can't stay long. I have to hurry, but I was wondering if you'd come to my place later on. I can't explain now, but I got big trouble". Rick says "Sure Pop. Where do you live?" Pop says "622 and a half, River Street". Rick asks "When do you want me there?" Pop says "In about an hour" Rick says "Okay. Wait a minute, let me give you a hand". He helps Pop down the hall and to the elevator, then goes back to his office. As he starts to call Helen back, Lieutenant Levinson comes into his office to give him some bad news.

Barrie Craig, Confidential Investigator - Murder by Error
Saturday May 16, 2026
Saturday May 16, 2026
One sultry Summer afternoon, Barrie decides to close his office early. As leaves the building and is walking down the street, he soon notices that an attractive lady seems to be following him. He changes his direction a few times, but she kept a discrete fifty yards or so behind him. Without turning around, Barrie uses a mirror to get a better look at her. She was blonde, had dimples on her cheeks, and an aristocratic look. She follows him into a cocktail lounge. Inside, Barrie watched her fidget at the far end of the mahogany bar for a few minutes, then walked over and sat next to her. Barrie says "Hello. I get the impression that we've been Inseparable for awhile". She says "Inseparable?" Barrie says "I left my office was at 3:45. I've been east, north, south, and west and now it's 5:15. In all that time, the shadow I threw was you. Well?" She says "You're right. I meant nothing personal, but if I can explain". Barrie says "Please do". She says "At 3:45 outside your office building, I didn't dare come up". Barrie asks "Why not?" She says "I discovered that I myself was being followed". Barrie says "Oh". She says "You were strongly recommended to me as a confidential investigator that I could trust implicitly". Barrie says "To whom do I owe that bouquet?" She says "Never mind. I followed you hoping we could eventually talk somewhere without being observed". Barrie says "Are we alone now?" She says "Yes, he's not in here". Barrie says "Describe him to me". She says "He's an unusually small man with an enormous head. He's totally bald and wore an odd candy striped suit, kind of freakish looking. Barrie says "Lady, tell me, uh, how do you feel, generally?" She says "I'm quite sane, believe me". Barrie says "Which brings us to your problem". She says "It's more precisely my husband's problem. I am Vera Baxter, and my husband is JC Baxter. He is someone substantial. A rich upper class important figure in the business world. He hasn't been himself for months. He's morose, secretive, can't eat or sleep. I believe my husband is submitting to blackmail".

Friday May 15, 2026
Mrs. Nell Pearson, the owner of a boarding house on Ninth Street, is in her office speaking with one of her tenants, Miss Mapes, about a serial killer that is currently terrorizing their city. Miss Mapes says "Oh my goodness!" Nell says "What is it, Miss Mapes?" She says "The newspaper headlines, look!" Nell reads "Ripper strikes again", and says "Oh, good heavens. That's awful. Perfectly awful". Miss Mapes says "Read it, Mrs. Pearson. Read it" Nell says "I am". Miss Mapes says "No, out loud I mean, I want to hear". Nell reads "The Ripper claimed another victim last night. This time, another attractive widow. Mrs. Henry Dodd. The body, gruesomely slashed and mutilated, was discovered by a neighbor who, hearing Mrs. Dodd's hysterical screams, rushed to her apartment. There she found the young widow lying in a pool of blood. There was a message written in red lipstick across one wall. It said "Stop me. Please stop me." At that moment, Charlie, another tenant and the handyman, came into the office and says "Excuse me, Mrs. Pearson. Which window do you want washed first?" Nell says "Oh, I don't know. Charlie, you want to get to that today?" Charlie says "Well, I thought it'd be a good time to get started on them". Nell says "Well, you decide, Charlie. Suit yourself". Miss Mapes says "There's been another one, Charlie. Another murder by the Ripper". Charlie says "You don't say. That makes a fifth, don't it?" Miss Mapes says "One a week for the past five weeks. Always on a Thursday night between 11:00 and 12:00. And always a widow". Charlie says "Oh, I better change my night out". Nell asks "What do you mean, Charlie?" He says "Well, Thursday's my night out, and you're a widow, Miss Pearson. You never know". Nell says "Oh, Charlie, you and your jokes" Charlie says "Sorry, Mrs. Pearson. I was just funing, that's all". Nell says "Well, take your fun out on those windows". As Charlie leaves, a stranger walks into the office and says "Excuse me. My name is Tony Adams, and I saw you have a room for rent".

The Adventures of Rocky Jordan - The Perfect Witness
Thursday May 14, 2026
Thursday May 14, 2026
On the night of the 15th, a stranger comes into the Cafe Tambourine and sits at the bar. He had his coat collar turned up and a faded blue scarf that helped to shield his face. Rocky did not pay much attention to the man, until a girl came in with a gun looking for him. Chris says "Hey Rocky! That girl's got a gun!" Rocky says "Yeah, I see her, Chris, let's get over there! Hey, mister, watch out!" She fires three shots that miss him, but hit the back mirror. Rocky and Chris grab her and attempt to wrestle the gun away. The girl says "I'll kill him, I'll kill him!" As he gets the gun, Rocky says "Not anymore, you won't!" Chris says "The guy ran out. She didn't hit him". Rocky says "Don't bother with him, Chris, she'll tell us all about him, won't you lady?" She says "No, let go of me!" Rocky says "Let's get her back to my office". Once there, Rocky calls for Captain Sam Sabaya to come over. After a while, she began to settle down, but still had no answers. She says "It'll do you no good to keep asking, Mr. Jordan". Rocky says "Your purse should have some identification". He finds a passport with the name "Cora Goode" on it. Rocky says "Does this belong to you?" She says "I'd hardly be carrying somebody else's passport". Rocky says "All right, Cora, I'll take that". Chris walks in and says "I just found this tie clip in front of the bar where the guy was sitting. The one that flew the coop". Rocky says "Oh thanks. It has the initials "BG". Is this his, Cora?" She says "You're doing all the guessing aren't you?" Rocky says "What was his name? Come on, tell me Cora". She says "You'll find out soon enough, when he turns up dead in a gutter". Chris says "Nice kid ain't she, Rocky?" He says "Skip it, Chris". Cora says "Anyways, why should you care? Why should anyone care?" Rocky says "Because it happens that I don't like shootings in my place. What's more, I don't like people coming in here working out their problems at my expense". Chris says "Captain Sabaya is here". Rocky says "Come in, Sam". He says "I see your Tambourine is having it's usual busy evening".

Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar - The Lake Mead Mystery Matter
Wednesday May 13, 2026
Wednesday May 13, 2026
Johnny gets a call from Pat McCracken at the Universal Adjustment Bureau. Pat says "Johnny, I believe you spent a couple of weekends down in Sarasota, Florida, earlier this month". Johnny says "Pat, you know darn well I did". Pat asks "Did you have a chance to get in some fishing?" Johnny says "You know darn well I didn't. That's why I've been sitting here dreaming about those lunker bass at the Lake Mojave Resort out in Arizona". Pat says "Oh, what's the matter with Lake Mead? It's just a few miles this side of Las Vegas, Nevada. There are a lot of big ones in that water, I understand". Johnny says "Okay, Pat, you got me all excited. Now, what's it all about?" Pat says "I told you. Fishing". Johnny says "And?" Pat says "That's all, except". Johnny says "Except what?" Pat says "A slight case of murder". Johnny says "All right". Pat says "Now, Johnny, your contact will be Mr. Rosco Trimmer. He's head of the local office of Greater Southwest Insurance and Liability right there in Las Vegas". Johnny says "You said murder. Can you give me any details?" Pat says "No, you'll have to get everything from Trimmer. All I know is there's a twenty thousand dollar policy involved and double indemnity. So, the sooner you get out there, the better". Johnny says "Pat, I'll grab the first plane I can". He caught a plane to New York, and then another to Las Vegas. It was 9:45 PM, Pacific Time, when he got to McCarron Airfield. Early the next morning, Johnny met Rosco Trimmer at the office of Greater Southwest Insurance and Liability. Roscoe says "I'm glad you could make it. I don't like this one at all. How are you?" Johnny says "Hi, Roscoe". He says "Sit down, will you? But not for long. Johnny says "Huh?" Roscoe says "I've arranged a rental car for you. And the sooner you can get over to Lake Mead, the better". Johnny says "Well, just where, Rosco? That's a pretty big lake". Roscoe says "At Overton, a little town about sixty miles northeast of here. The client, Thomas Mayfield Thomas, went out fishing with an old friend from Chicago, and didn't come back".

Wednesday May 13, 2026
Wednesday May 13, 2026
About noon at the office, Mr. Keen says "Going out to lunch, Mike?" He says "Oh, I thought I'd grab myself a sandwich, Mr. Keen". Suddenly, there is a knock at the front door. Mike says "Someone's at the door, boss. I'll see who it is". Mike opens the door to see a distraught young lady standing there. She asks "Are you Mr. Keen?" Mike says "No, I'm his partner Mike Clancy. Here's Mr. Keen". He asks "What can I do for you?" She says "Help me, Mr. Keen, I didn't mean to do it. I don't even remember doing it. Please, you've got to save me". Keen asks "Save you from what?" She says "I've just shot a woman to death!" Keen says "Come inside". Mike says "Oh, she looks like she's a bit out of her mind". Keen asks "Who are you?" She says "My name is Helen Taylor". Keen says "And you just killed someone?" She says "Yes, with this gun". Mike says "I'll take charge of that if you don't mind". Mike inspects the gun and says "Two bullets are missing". Helen says "Yes, Mrs. Ellis was shot twice". Keen says "Mrs. Ellis? Is she the woman you killed?" Helen says "Yes". Keen asks "When did this happen?" Helen says "In her home. Oh, Mr. Keen, I just can't understand it. I've never even seen Mrs. Ellis before in my life. What possessed me to take a gun and go to her home to murder her?" Keen says "I'd like to help you if I can. Now, why not tell me the entire story Miss Taylor". She says "Mrs. Taylor. I'm married, Mr. Keen, and that's another thing that horrifies me. This will ruin my husband's life". Keen says "Mike, get the car. I think we ought to go to the scene of the crime immediately". Mike says "Okay, we'll meet you downstairs in five minutes". Keen says "Now, Mrs. Taylor, tell me exactly what happened from the beginning". Helen says "Oh, Mr. Keen, I only know that I found myself with that gun in my hand in Mrs. Ellis's apartment. She was lying on the floor dead". Keen says "And you don't know who she is?" Helen says "Well, her name is familiar, but that's all. I'm sure I've never seen her before".

Official Detective - The Arson Murders
Wednesday May 13, 2026
Wednesday May 13, 2026
One evening, Fred and Myra Dorsey, business owners, are expecting visitors at their home. Fred says "What time are they coming, Myra?" She says "Around 9 o'clock". Fred says "Uh, it's near that now". Myra says "Sit down will you, Fred? Relax, you're getting me nervous. What are you worried about?" Fred says "Myra, maybe we better call this off". Myra says "Oh don't be silly". Fred says "It's not too late. We could ...." Myra says "No, we made a decision, Fred. When you make a decision it's better to carry it through". Fred says "We might regret it later". Myra says "And we might regret it if we back out". Fred says "I don't think so". Myra says "I do. That's life, a series of regrets for something you did or something you failed to do. Personally, I'd rather regret an act than an omission. I don't like ...." Fred says "Oh, for Heaven's sake ...." Just then, the doorbell rings. Myra says "Here they are now. I'll get it". She opens the door and the man there says "Mrs. Dorsey?" She says "Come in, Mr. Marmon". He says "This is my partner, Lou Gairn". Myra says "How do you do, gentlemen? This is my husband, Mr. Dorsey". Fred says "Hello. Let's all sit down". Myra says "Well, I guess we better get right down to business. How much, Mr. Marmon?" He says "Well, uh me and Lou talked it over for a long time. We figured it from all the angles. This one's not such an easy job. It's risky". Myra asks "How much, Mr. Marmon?" He says "For a job like this we figured uh, two grand". Fred says "Two grand?" Myra says "That's rather high, don't you think, Mr. Marmon?" He says "No, I don't think so". Myra says "So, how did you arrive at your price?" Marmon says "Well like I said, we figured it from all the angles, such as the insurance you'll get from the place. Two grand's only a small part of it. Now, we work on the percentage idea. Fair trade practice and all that". Myra asks "What makes you think we're doing it for the insurance?" Marmon says "Look, Mrs. Dorsey, I wasn't born yesterday. What other reason do people have for burning down their own business?"

He says "Blanch, where's the clothes? Didn't you bring the clothes?" She says "Yes, I brought them. They made me leave them at the desk". Harry says "Oh, fine. I'm in here five months, and on the last day, they're still afraid I'm going to break out". Blanch says "Well, don't get mad at me, Harry. It's not my fault. They took them from me". Harry asks "What'd you bring?" Blanch says "What you said, the brown suit with a tie to match and a white shirt". Harry asks "What about shoes?" Blanch says "I brought shoes". Harry says "It'll be a pleasure to get out of these rags". Blanch says "The baby is fine, Harry. I was out to see him yesterday". Harry says "Yeah, that's good". Blanch says "The country is really nice for him. It's going to be a shame to bring him back to the hotel room". Harry says "Maybe that'd be a good idea to leave him in the country". Blanch says "No, I want him back, Harry. I do want him". Harry says "All right, we'll talk about it later". Blanch says "I really do". Harry says "This is no place to talk about it. Let me get out of here, then we'll talk about it". Blanch says "All right, Harry. Do you want me to wait for you?" Harry says "No. Who knows when they'll let me out. Come here, Blanch. Give me a kiss". Blanch says "Oh, Harry". He says "Now, look, baby. Get a hold of Doug and Billy boy. Tell them I want to see them tonight. I got big things cooking". Blanch says " But Harry, you're just getting out. There's no sense in ...." Just then, the guard steps in to escort her back out. He says "This way, Miss". Harry says "Honey, I'll see you in a couple of hours. We'll go out. We'll have the biggest steak in town. Blanch says "Goodbye, Harry. He says "Get ahold of those parties for me, Blanch".

This Is Your FBI - The Innocent Killer
Tuesday May 12, 2026
Tuesday May 12, 2026
All day long, the blizzard sweeping down from the Arctic has howled across the flat, bleak country surrounding the little Alaskan village of Ruckland. Now, as the gloom of night closes in, Mrs. Nan Miller sits all alone in John Miller's log cabin trading post. She's mending a sweater near the old pot-bellied stove. Suddenly, the front door swings open, and man enters. Nan says "Well?" The man asks "Where's the trader? She says "You got something to trade?" The man says "I said, where is he?" Nan says "John ain't here". The man asks "When will he be back?" Nan says "He's up north. Be down about a week". He asks "Anybody else here?" She asks "Would that be bad?" He says "What do you mean?" Nan says "What could I mean?" After a few seconds, she asks "You put up your dogs?" The man says "I haven't got any". Nan says "You haven't got any snowshoes either". He says "I rode with an Eskimo sled this way. What's that thing on the counter behind you?" She says "What does it look like?" He says "A shortwave radio". She says "That's right. It works both ways". He says "What does it reach?" She says "Fairbanks". He asks "Has there been any news?" She says "About what?" He says "About anything?" She says "Why should you be so interested?" He says "Just answer my question. Okay?" Nan says "They signaled here about fifteen minutes ago. There was a report on some trouble in Fairbanks. The government assayer was shot and killed in his office earlier today. They asked me to be on the lookout for the guy that did it". He asks "Did they give a description?" She says "Yeah, they said he was a fellow about your size, wearing a red and black mackinaw. Just like the one you got on". He asks "Anything else?" She says "That's enough, ain't it?" He asks "What did they tell you to do if he showed here?" She says "Call them back". He says "That might make trouble for you". She says "I know". He says "Well, what are you going to do, sweetheart?" She says "It gets awful lonesome here. How about some tea?"

Jeff Regan, Investigator - A Tree Grows in Encino
Monday May 11, 2026
Monday May 11, 2026
It was about half past noon when Jeff Regan reported to the Lyon's office to see what was on tap for the afternoon. He sees a haughty little man sitting across the desk from the Lyon, who had his mouth wide open. He says "Jeffery, come in here, I've been waiting for you. This is Mr. uhh ... " The little man says "McMurray, Jonathan McMurray". Lyon says "Yes, McMurray. He thinks he needs our help". Jeff asks "Not sure yet, Mr. McMurray?" He says "Yes, I am quite sure. It is your employer, Mr. Lyon who is not sure". Lyon says "Oh well now, yours is a very unusual case". Jeff says "Suppose somebody tells me what this is all about". McMurray says "Mr. Regan, it's quite simple. I want you to prove I am guilty of murder". Jeff says "What?" McMurray says "I have murdered my wife, Mr. Regan. I've gone to the police and confessed. They refuse to believe me. It's up to you to prove I'm right". Lyon says "Of course, Jeffery ...." Jeff says "Wait a minute, Fatso, let's get all the story. Mac, when did you kill your wife? McMurray says "On the morning of April 3rd at 3 AM, three years ago. I had gone to bed early the night of April 2nd. I heard noises several hours later. I assumed they were burglars, so I went downstairs, taking my gun of course, and saw a figure breaking in. Naturally, I fired. It was my wife". Jeff says "Your wife was breaking into your own house?" McMurray says "It seemed that way at the time. We all make mistakes, you know". Jeff says "We all make mistakes". McMurray says "Of course. I do not believe in murder, that is why I am here". Jeff says "The police wouldn't believe you". McMurray says "They're nothing but a group of incompetent immoral civil servants ...." Jeff says "What happened after you shot your wife?" McMurray says "I lost my head and fled the city and for three years". Jeff says "So, your conscience got to bothering you?" McMurray says "Yes, I decided that I must make an example of myself". Lyon says "Hey, Jeffrey, perhaps we'd better explain to Mr. McMurray that we're pretty busy this season here ...."

The Epic Casebook - Grand Prix is Death
Monday May 11, 2026
Monday May 11, 2026
Inspector Carr at Scotland Yard receives a call asking for assistance from the Kent County Constabulary concerning the apparent murder of race car driver Rick Lester. Having been a racing fan from his younger days, Carr was familiar with the name, Rick Lester. He was one of the brightest of that select galaxy of stars, the Grand Prix drivers and since he had signed a contract with the Turnbull Racing Team, it appeared to be a combination with World Champion written all over it. Inspector Carr and Sergeant Jackson arranged for a car and left at once for the Grand Prix circuit at Brands Hatch. On the way, Carr says "Well, Jackson, it strikes me that this might be a case where some specialized knowledge may be useful. What do you know about motor racing?" Jackson says "Well, I'm not an expert, sir, but since British cars have been showing the foreigners the way around, I certainly followed it rather more closely". Carr says "I suppose they're all at Brands Hatch for the British Grand Prix there". Jackson says "That's on Saturday. Today and tomorrow, they're holding the official practice sessions". As they arrive, Carr says "That must be the Turnbull Pit over there, where the other police cars are parked. They look a bit out of place in these surroundings". As they stop the car, and start walking to the pit area, a man comes up and says "Inspector Carr?" He says "Yes". The man says "Hello, sir, I'm Jones, Kent CID". He says "Well, it all happened about 2:30. They were testing the car and after some thirty laps, Lester came in, got out of the car, and picked up a drink from the pit counter, and that was that". Carr says "Looks as though it was cyanide". Jones says "Cyanide, that's what our doctor said. You can still smell it in the paper cup he used. The official report should be through any minute. We had the body taken down to the mortuary, sir. There was no reason to keep it here". Carr says "Are you sure there isn't a chance of suicide?" Jones says "Well, that can be considered as a vague possibility, but why, sir? There doesn't seem to be any reason".

The New Adventures of Nero Wolfe - Room 304
Saturday May 09, 2026
Saturday May 09, 2026
The telephone is ringing in Mr. Wolfe's office. Archie answers "Nero Wolfe's office, Archie Goodwin speaking". A woman's voice on the line says "Hello? Is this Mr. Wolfe?" Wolfe says to Archie "If it's for me, I'm not here". Archie says "What if it's a case?" Wolfe says "If it is, tell them no". Archie says "I will not". Wolfe says "Confound you, Archie. Do as I say". Archie says on the phone "Hello?" The woman says "Hello, is this Mr. Wolfe's residence?" Archie says "Yes". She asks "Is this Mr. Wolfe?" Archie says "Uh, yes, Mr. Wolfe speaking" She says "I am in very much trouble. Could I see you, please, immediately?" Archie says "Well, now, what kind of trouble, Miss?" Wolfe says "Give me that phone, Archie". He says "No". Back on the phone, Archie says "Sorry, I had to turn the radio down, too loud, you know". The woman asks "May I see you right away?" Archie says "Well, I .... " The woman says "I'll give you one thousand dollars as a retainer fee". Archie says "Yes, yes indeed. I'll take the case. Come right over. The address is 601 West 35th Street". The woman says "I cannot, Mr. Wolfe. I just cannot come there". Archie asks "Well, where do you live?" She says "I am staying at the Polo Hotel, room 304 on the .... " Suddenly, Archie hears a gunshot over the phone line! He says "Hello? Hello?" Archie says to Wolfe "I heard a shot and then the line clicked off". Wolfe says "Indeed". Archie says "I'm going over to her hotel and see what goes on". Wolfe says "By all means, Mr. Wolfe". Archie says "Yeah, huh?" Wolfe says "Now that I've been insulted to the tone of being called a radio". Archie says "I'm sorry, Mr. Wolfe, but we needed the money, and this was a thousand dollars". Wolfe says "If you will excuse me, I have to attend to my orchids, Mr. Wolfe". Archie says "What about the girl, the shot?" Wolfe says "Hmm. Fascinating, isn't it? You figure it out". Archie says "Okay. I've got to get over there to Room 304, Polo Hotel. So long, boss". Wolfe says "Good luck, Mr. Wolfe. Please phone me from time to time".

Box 13 - Death Is a Doll
Friday May 08, 2026
Friday May 08, 2026
Dan Holiday receives a letter in his Box 13 that reads "I don't know quite how to begin this letter except to say that it may sound fantastic to you, perhaps even a joke. But please believe me, I am serious and the situation is serious. A man is dying, yet he has nothing wrong with him. He believes he's going to die five days from now. And so Bart LaFave is dying. A strong, healthy man is dying because of witchcraft. I know this sounds in congruous, anachronistic in this 20th century. But, if you will come to Ballou, Louisiana, you will see for yourself and perhaps be able to help. Sincerely, Doris Gordon." After doing a little research at his place of employment, The Star Times, Dan caught the train heading to Louisiana. His research made him change his mind a little about that letter. Doris Gordon met him at the Ballou Train Station. Five minutes later, Doris was driving him along a dusty back road in her little car. She says "I didn't think you'd come, Mr. Holiday". Dan says "Well, I never refuse a chance to get mixed up in something that sounds different". Doris says "Or insane?" Dan says "Well, what's the difference? Automobiles and radios were different when they came along. Before that, they were insane". Doris says "But, this is different. We're in the 20th century. Salem and the witch hunts are history". Dan says "History? Well, to bat a cliche into center field, history often repeats itself". Doris says "I know. Oh. By the way, no one must know why you're here, Mr. Holiday". Dan says "Yes. Why not?" Doris says "These are good people, but they're liable to resent a stranger. So, I want you to pretend to be my cousin. You see, I've been here for only six months, teaching school. No one knows much about my personal life. They've come to trust me and like me. I think they'll accept you because of it". Dan says "Fair enough". Doris says "Now, I board with the LaFave's". Dan says "Your letter mentioned a Bart LaFave". Doris says "He's their youngest son and he's dying". Dan asks "What did the doctor say?" Doris says "He said there's nothing wrong with him".

Bold Venture - Sunken Treasure at Twenty Fathoms
Friday May 08, 2026
Friday May 08, 2026
A Diver named Joe Cowan has come to Shannon's Place to offer Slate and Saylor a proposition concerning sunken treasure. Joe says "I know where the Bark Hesperides is. It is an old slaving ship returning from the Carolinas with gold. It sank, and I know where it is". Saylor asks "Where?" Joe says "I've listened a lot and I've got me a lot of old charts. I can draw an "X" on a map of the Caribbean and that's where the Hesperides is. Slate says "The lady asked you where". Joe pulls out an old chart and says "Look, off here, the smallest island on Portuguese Key. We can use this reef as a mooring. We back off three hundred feet and drop a stern anchor and we're secure. Then, just climb into a suit and jump down. Twenty fathoms down, that's where the ship and the gold is located. Now, what about it?" Slate says "Well, I don't know. I admit it appeals to me but diving for sunken treasure isn't exactly the way I want to make my way in life". Saylor says "Well, he's not asking you to dive for anything, Slate. He just wants to use your boat, isn't that right?" Joe says "Sure, I'll do the diving. We'll use your boat and your equipment. We'll split whatever we find down the middle". Slate says "Equipment? I haven't had a diving suit since I lived in Hawaii". Eventually, Slate agrees to the arrangement, and obtains the necessary equipment, the compressor, the lines, and the diving suit. When the appointed day arrives, Slate and Saylor are waiting, but Joe Cowan has not appeared. Slate says "How long does one wait for a tardy deep sea diver?" Saylor says "How should I know? I've never been stood up by a man who wears a bubble on his head". Slate says "Now you have, how does it feel? Saylor says "I feel like a girl with an empty deep sea diving suit, and nobody to shove into it, that's all". Slate says "You and me, we're wall flowers, Saylor. We've been invited to a dance and nobody wants to waltz with us". Saylor says "Let's go home, Slate. I'm tired, the Bold Venture's tired, it's all tired, all of it". Slate says "Maybe something happened to Joe. Maybe somebody got to him".

Calling All Cars - Multiple Murders
Friday May 08, 2026
Friday May 08, 2026
It was a clear, crisp day in November. Four miles north of the town of San Fernando, California, in a small heavily wooden glen, R.M. Frank and his wife finish a picnic lunch, and are getting ready to do some rabbit hunting. R.M. says "Well, I made it and that's about all. I couldn't eat another bite of food, if my life depended on it". Mrs. Frank says "Oh, you couldn't, huh?" R.M. says "Nope. not so much as one infinitesimal crumb could I manage". Mrs. Frank says "Not even if I reached into a bag like this and pulled out something like this?" He says "Apple pie?" She says "Baked this very morning by none other than yours truly. Of course, if you really can't eat a piece there's no use in cutting it". He says "Now, wait, I don't want to seem stubborn about this. You went to a lot of trouble making it and all. Well, maybe I might just, sort of, eat a little piece, you know?". She says "I thought so". He says "What do you mean, you thought so? Sounds as though I were in a habit of rescinding statements I make". While handing him a piece of pie, Mrs. Frank says "Here. Stop sounding like a novel, and work on this". R.M. says "Was I sounding like a novel?" She says "You were". He takes a bite and says "That's the best pie in the whole US". She says "Thank you". He says "Wait a minute, I know what I need to complete the picture, some ice cold water from that little stream over there, and that's just what I'm going to get. Now hold everything until I get back". She says "Careful a wild animal doesn't get you". He says "Don't worry, the biggest thing out here is a red ant". As he nears the stream, he suddenly stops in his tracks. She says "What's the matter? Did one of those red ants get you?" He says "Stay over there, honey". As he hurries back toward her, she asks "What is it?" He says "It's something I don't want you to see. Come on let's get this stuff packed up as fast as we can. I've got to get to the phone". She says "I wish you'd tell me what it is. I've never seen you look that way before". He says "It's a dead body. A man, I think. Lets get out of here. I've got to phone the authorities".

Suspense - Public Defender
Thursday May 07, 2026
Thursday May 07, 2026
It was November 11th, Armistice Day, and the town was having a parade. Phillip Penn was there on the street watching it. He didn't want to miss anything. He was standing on the north side of Sixth Street, off of Curtis Street, right by the alley. As he is watching the parade, he saw a lady wearing a fur coat. She was about five feet from him, sort of standing on her toes trying to look over everybody's head. Phillip looked around to make sure she was alone, before he came up behind her. She says "You ... what?" Phillip says "Easy now". She says "Just a minute, that's my purse!" Phillip says "You weren't supposed to notice, lady, but now that you have, this is a knife. Don't make a move, not one single little move or I'll shove it in your back". She let's out a little scream. Phillip stabs her and says "I said not to move". He put his arm around her and held her up until the drum and bugle corps passed by. No one noticed as he let her slip to the ground. Then, Phillip just turned around and walked away. The next day, the newspaper called it the Armistice Day Killing. The article said her name was Tyler and that her husband did something for the county. The Tyler's pictures were all over the front page, so that night Phillip caught myself a bus for St. Louis and stayed there about a month. Later, Phillip returned home in time for Christmas. One morning, a few days later, Phillip hears at knock at his door. He asks "Who is it?" The voice says "It's Mrs. Weaver, the landlord". Phillip asks "What time is it?" She says "It's eight o'clock. There are two men downstairs who want to talk to you. They're from the police department". Phillip says "Policemen?" Mrs. Weaver says "Yes, policeman. I told them that you were sleeping, and asked if they could come back later. They said they wanted to talk to you right now. Are you in any trouble?" Phillip says "I don't know. I hope not. Tell them I'll be right down, Mrs. Weaver", She says "Well all right, Mr. Penn. They must have made a mistake or something".

Theater Five - Five Strangers
Wednesday May 06, 2026
Wednesday May 06, 2026
At an airport in a Midwest city, four strangers have been somewhat patiently waiting for their flight to Chicago, when the loudspeaker announces "Ladies and gentlemen, there's been no change in the weather over the eastern and central portions of the country. The extremely foggy conditions are expected to extend at least into the midmorning hours. All flights to and from this airport have been cancelled until further notice". One of the men says "Oh, this cursed fog. Just look at it out there". A nearby woman says "I beg your pardon. Were you speaking to me?" The man says "Oh, no. I'm sorry. It's this rotten weather. I've been here at the airport for nine hours waiting for it to lift". The woman says "Yes, I saw you when I arrived". The man says "Haven't I seen or met you somewhere before?" After a few seconds, he says "Of course, Baines Cosmetics. You're Deborah Baines". She says "That's right". He says "Yes. I remember now about the newspaper story. It concerned your new line in cosmetics, right?" Deborah says "Well, it's a little more than that. You see, I've been negotiating with another leading cosmetics firm for .... Well, I really shouldn't be discussing it". He says "Oh, I understand perfectly, but it must be pretty important". Deborah says "It's extremely important. A great deal depends upon my arriving in Chicago before 9:30 in the morning". He says "Well, that makes two of us, Miss Baines. My deadline is 10:00 AM. By the way, my name is Monroe. Steven Monroe". Deborah says "Oh, not Steven Monroe Enterprises". He says "Uh huh". Deborah says "Well, now it's my turn to be impressed. I've heard quite a lot about you, Mr. Monroe". Steven says "Ah, don't you believe more than half of it". Deborah says "Which half?" Steven says "Well, the half, I hope they believe". Deborah says "They?" Steven says "Yeah. The two over there on the bench. The old man and the, uh ... lady". Deborah says "Did you say lady? She does seem a bit overpainted". Steven says "Doesn't she? With Baine's cosmetics, I trust".

I Was a Communist for the FBI - Burnt Offerings
Wednesday May 06, 2026
Wednesday May 06, 2026
The local party members were always excited about the arrival of a visitor from Europe, any sort of an official from one of the Iron Curtain countries. These messengers from headquarters always demanded and got the plush carpet treatment with all the trimmings. It was assumed, of course, that they were here for some secret purpose, aside from their official duties and then usually were, like Szubanski, a diplomatic courier from a certain country in Europe. Szubanski had a purpose and, if necessary, he was ready to kill to carry it out. Matt Cvetic is meeting with comrades Jones and Szubanski. Jones says "I know this is extremely short notice, comrade Cvetic, but the tremendous importance of comrade Szubanski's mission fully justifies it". Matt says "I understand comrade Jones. I'm glad you were able to find me. What is the mission, comrade Szubanski?" He says "Questions comrade? A most remarkable attitude". Matt says "Sorry, I didn't mean to pry, but well if I'm assigned to work on a ...." Jones says "Your assignment is to accompany comrade Szubanski to Chicago. He's going to meet a contact there and immediately return to New York. From there, he will go back to Europe. He will carry out the mission, and your job is to facilitate it. I made plane reservations. You are to be at the airport in thirty minutes. Oh, and one more thing. You'll carry this with you, Cvetic". Matt says "A gun? This must be a big one". Jones says "The biggest job we've ever done. The man you're going to contact has been in Chicago only a week. He came there from Los Alamos, New Mexico". At that moment, Matt knew this assignment would have serious repercussions. He and Szubanski quickly left after the meeting to return to his hotel, pack, check out, and make the flight. Szubanski would be at his side the entire time. He had to find some way to contact the FBI.

Boston Blackie - The Murder of John Austin
Wednesday May 06, 2026
Wednesday May 06, 2026
Wealthy John Austin was found dead in a field by his son, Happy Austin, who is taking Inspector Faraday to where the body is located. Happy says "Here's his body, Inspector Faraday. It is just the way it was when I saw it from the hilltop over there". Faraday says "If you spotted it from that hilltop, how did you know it was your stepfather, Mr. Austin?" Happy says "I recognized the jacket and boots he's wearing and I knew he was out here inspecting the farm. He left the house early this morning right after it stopped raining and well, this is where he'd be according to his schedule". Faraday says "Oh, he was on a regular routine inspection, huh?" Happy says "Yes, he inspected the entire estate once every week on foot". Faraday says "Well, he was killed by a blow on the head. One blow that meant instant death". Happy says "But that's impossible, Inspector Faraday, how could he have been killed out here in the middle of an open field?" Faraday says "I don't know how, yet. Now look, there are no footprints out here and none that is but his own. There they are leading right up to here where he was slugged and killed, unless ...." Happy asks "Unless what, Inspector?" Faraday says "Unless the killer followed him, carefully stepping in Austin's prints, killed him, then walked backwards stepping in the same prints". Happy says "I guess that explains it, doesn't it?" Faraday says "It might. Let's have another look at those prints, huh?" Happy says "Oh, I'm sure that's how it was done, Inspector. Dad wasn't hit by a car or his body driven out here because there're no tire tracks". Faraday says "He wasn't hit on the head by anyone who followed in his footprints, either. His boots are cleated, and the cleat marks are still too clear". Happy says "Inspector Faraday, this is crazy. He couldn't have been killed out here and he wasn't carried out here. These are his own footprints, you're absolutely right". Faraday says "Mr. Austin, he couldn't have been killed out here. It's impossible, but there's just one thing that bothers me". Happy asks "What's that?" Faraday says "He was".

Dragnet - The Big Chance
Tuesday May 05, 2026
Tuesday May 05, 2026
It was Monday morning on June 4th. Detective Sergeants Joe Friday and Ben Romero were working the day shift out of the Homicide Division. It was 6:45 AM when they arrived at the San Pedro cutoff of the Imperial Highway. There, they met with an officer from the Sheriff's Department. He walks up to them and says "Hi. Are you Detective Sergeants Friday and Romero?" Joe says "Yeah, that's right". He says "I'm Pete Sutton of the Sheriff's Department". Ben says "How are you? We got here as soon as we could". Pete asks "Did Inspector Bowers fill you in?" Friday says "Yeah, you know, Ed Baxter in Central Homicide told us to check with Bowers at the Sheriff's Office. Bowers directed us to come out here and lend you a hand". Ben says "This thing happened so close to the county line they figure both departments ought to go to work on it". Pete says "Sure, we're glad to have you. Looks like a tough one". Ben asks "Is this the Highway Patrol Car the missing officer was assigned to?" Pete says "Yeah. This isn't just the way we found it. We turned off the ignition. The motor was running, and the lights were on. It's been idling quite a while. The temperature was up pretty high". Friday asks "When did you find it this way?" Pete says "45 minutes ago. Missing patrolman's name is Eugene Brewer. The State Highway Patrol called the Sheriff's Department a little before 6 AM and told us the missing officer wasn't acknowledging his radio call. I talked to Mark Benson". Ben asks "Is the radio all right?" Pete says "We checked it. In fact, it was operating normal when we found the car. The microphone was out of the bracket, laying on the seat there". Joe asks "Any ideas?" Pete says "There were no signs of struggle, and no blood stains. There were no footprints anywhere, and nothing on the shoulder of the road". Ben says "You said the car was running?" Pete says "That's right". Ben says "That eliminates any engine trouble". Friday says "Nobody has any idea why or when he left his car". Pete says "You've got it all. You know as much as we do".

Night Beat - I Wish You Were Dead
Monday May 04, 2026
Monday May 04, 2026
Randy was in a bad mood as he walked down Michigan Avenue on his way to work. It was five o'clock in the afternoon and nothing was ahead for him except another night at the office. Feeling like a school kid playing hooky, he turned toward a landscaped area in front of the Art Museum and sat down on the end of a bench. Sitting on the other end was a thin, little old man whom was staring at a pigeon perched on the fountain. Randy was beginning to feel persecuted like he was the only one in the whole wide city who had to go to work in a nice lazy day. Suddenly, Randy hears the words "I wish you were dead". At first, he didn't know where the voice came from, as there was no one behind him. There was no one around, except the little guy at the other end of the bench. Randy says "You know, that's not a very nice thing to say to somebody you don't even know". The little old man says "I'm sorry, I didn't think you heard me". Randy says "Certainly, I heard you. Why would you wish a thing like that on me?" The little old man says "Oh, but I didn't mean you, not at all, because if I did you would now be dead". Randy says "You mean I would be dead?" The little old man says "It's terrible, just terrible". Randy says "Well, if it wasn't me you just said that to, then who was it?" The man says "It was the pigeon. The one that was on the fountain". Randy asks "And what happened to the pigeon?" The man says "He died". Randy says "The pigeon died?" The man says "Oh yes. It'll happen every time. I'll get the bird and show you. You see? It's dead all right, perfectly dead". Randy says "Oh, now look mister, uh ... " The man says "Fettle, is my name". Randy says "Stone is my name, Randy Stone. I guess I'll be running along". Mr. Fettle says "Oh, I thought perhaps you could help me, Mr. Stone. You look like the kind of person who would understand. You see, it's something I can't tell to just anyone". Randy says "Well, get rid of the dead bird, and I'll listen to your story".

Dangerous Assignment - Stolen UN Documents
Sunday May 03, 2026
Sunday May 03, 2026
Walking into the Commissioner's office, Steve says "Good morning, Commissioner. Ruth said you had an assignment for me". The Commissioner says "I do, Steve, you're plane leaves for the middle east in one hour". Steve says "The middle east? Don't tell me I have to crawl along that pipeline over there looking for leaks". Commissioner says "You'll be looking for leaks all right, but not oil. Steve, we're on the verge of suffering a very serious diplomatic and strategic defeat". Steve says "What's the deal?" Commissioner says "Take a look at this map of the middle east, Steve. For some time now, we've been negotiating very secretly with this country, here. These negotiations would pave the way for United Nations bases in that area". Steve says "I see, but why all the secrecy?" Commissioner says "The country in question insisted on it. You see, they've been periodically intimidated by powerful interests to the northeast of them. They wanted to have all the negotiations concluded before any information concerning them fell into the wrong hands". Steve says "Wait a minute, you say there's been a leak?" Commissioner says "Exactly, this morning we learned through confidential sources that the document containing the complete preliminary discussions regarding military installations is now in the hands of those hostile interests I was talking about". Steve says "What? How did that happen?" Commissioner says "That's exactly what you're flying to the middle east to find out, Steve. It's vital we plug up this leak. If we don't the entire negotiations may collapse, which would seriously endanger our entire position in the middle east". Steve says "You say a copy of the document got into the wrong hands. Does anybody know which copy it was?" Commissioner says "Yes, that particular copy was last in the possession of a man named Khalid. He's the middle eastern country's representative in the negotiation. Get over there, Steve, and talk to Khalid. Do whatever you have to do get to the bottom of this whole rotten mess. Well, that's it. You've got your assignment. Good luck".

The Adventures of the Falcon - The Case of the Natural Seven
Sunday May 03, 2026
Sunday May 03, 2026
Late evening in New York and at Frenchy Devlin's, a gambling house in the East 70's, a young man named Steve Richards is conducting an interesting experiment. Steve's trying to get a pair of ivory cubes to come up the right way. He says "Come on dice, be good to papa, all I want is one little natural". Steve rolls the dice, and Nick, the stickman, says "Eight is the point. Eight, get your bets down, gentlemen, get your bets down". Steve says "Let's make it the hard way, two little fours". He rolls again. Nick says "A six and a three, nine. The point is still eight, place your bets". Steve rolls again. Nick says "Seven, loser, pay the line. Well, I guess this isn't your night, Mr. Richards. Who's next?" Steve says "Wait a minute, how about one more roll?" The player next to him says "It's okay with me, Nick, let him shoot". Steve says "Thanks, fellow. I'll tell you what I'll do, I'll roll one time for five thousand. What do you say?" Nick says "Sorry, Mr Richards, there's a five hundred dollar limit at this table". Steve says "You got to give me a chance to get even". Nick says "I just work here, I don't make the rules". Steve asks "Where's the boss?" Nick says "Well, he was here just here .... Oh, uh, Mr. Devlin?" He asks "What's the trouble here?" Nick says "There's no trouble, Mr. Devlin, this gentleman would like to see you". Steve says "Nick tells me I can't bet more than five hundred". Devlin says "That's not rich enough for your blood?" Steve says "No, I want to shoot five thousand". Devlin asks "On one roll?" Steve says "Yeah". Devlin says "Well that raises a peculiar point, Mr. uh ... I'm sorry I don't believe I caught your name". Steve says "Richards, Steve Richards". Devlin says "All right, Mr. Richards, you're faded". Nick gives him the dice, and Steve says "Come on , dice, be good to papa". He rolls. Nick says "The point is four". Steve rolls again. Nick says "Seven, a loser". Devlin says "Satisfied now, Mr. Richards?" Steve says "Yeah, I am". Devlin says "I think you need a drink". Steve says "No, I'm alright". Devlin says "I insist. Just follow me".

Saturday May 02, 2026
Just before 5 o'clock in the early evening of October 29th, Liz Ferris, a chambermaid at the Hotel Alamo in the town of Limpia, Texas, approaches Sam Bixby, the desk clerk. She says "Mr. Bixby ... " He says "Oh, Liz, I thought you went home". She says "Ah, I can't see I'll ever get home until I get the rooms finished. And I still ain't been in Room 114" Sam says "114? Hmm. That's Mr. Bolan's room. Oh, he went out a couple hours ago". Liz says "Well, he left one of them do not disturb cards on his door just the same. And his key ain't in the box there. I looked before while you were sorting out the mail". Sam says "Oh, well, he probably just forgot to leave his key. You got your pass key. You can get in". Liz says "Well, how'd I know he didn't come back again without you seeing him? Suppose he's in there taking a bath". Sam laughs and says "Alright, Liz. Come on. I'll come back with you. Give me the keys". Liz says "Some folks don't care at all when I finish work, as long as they can sleep the day away". Sam says "Now, Liz, Mr. Bolan's been here for two days, and this is the first time he's given you any trouble". Liz says "Well, if it ain't him, it's somebody else. There, there's that do not disturb card on the door, like I said". Sam asks "Did you try knocking that on the door?" Liz says "Of course, I didn't. I got some consideration for other folks, even if they ain't got none for me. Besides, I run the vacuum cleaner in the hall hard enough to wake the dead". Sam says "Well, he didn't answer the knock. I'm sure he went out". Liz says "Well, if you're so sure, why don't you open the door, then?" Sam opens the door slightly and says "Uh, you in Mr. Bolan? Mr. Bolan?" After a few seconds, Sam says "He's out. Alright, go ahead Liz". She says "Alright, I'll make the bed first, then get the ,,,," Liz suddenly screams! Sam says "Hey! What's the matter?" Liz says "A man's leg sticking out from under the bed and there's blood on the rug! Let me out of here!" Sam says "No, no, Liz. Be quiet. Don't let the other guests hear you. I better call the sheriff right away".

Michael Shayne, Private Detective - The Body in the Trunk
Saturday May 02, 2026
Saturday May 02, 2026
Mike Shane is in his office talking to his old friend, Inspector Faraday. The two of them are alone, as Mike's assistant, Phyllis Knight, has gone home early this evening. Mike says "Of course, Faraday, I don't know much about the current case except what I've read in the papers, but it seems to me that you may be going after the wrong guy". Faraday says "Mike, this Joe has got a prison record as long as a kangaroo's tail. Why should he sidestep a little thing like murder?" Mike says "Maybe because he has that long prison record. I remember a case back in New York that's almost a carbon copy of this. I've got some information on it in the files here. I'll read it to you, just a second". As Mike is looking through the files, he says "It's here, somewhere. Phyllis could turn right to it". Faraday says "Yeah, she went home kind of early this evening, didn't she?" Mike says "Yeah, she's got a girlfriend staying with her at her apartment. She went home to help her pack up". Faraday says "A friend from out of town?" Mike says "No, the girl had a fight with her fiancé and wants to play hermit for a few days". Faraday says "I know that old trick. Goodbye forever, until next Saturday night". Suddenly, the phone starts ringing. Faraday says "I'll get it, Mike. He picks up the phone and says "Hello?" Phyllis, on the line, says "Mike, thank heavens you're still there". He says "This is Faraday, Phyllis, Mike's ransacking his files. I'll get him for you". Phyllis says "Wait a minute, Inspector, you better hear this too. Faraday says "What's wrong girl? You sound scared blue". Phyllis says "I am. I know something's happened, but I don't dare look". Mike gets on the line and says "Now wait a minute, calm down honey, now tell me what's wrong". Phyllis says "Well, you know Lois was leaving my apartment tonight and I came home to help her pack. Well, she's not here, Mike. At least, I don't think so". Mike says "Now, please angel, wait a minute. I can't tell what you're talking about". Phyllis says "Well, I found her trunk already packed and locked and .... oh, Mike, I think her body's inside".

Broadway is My Beat - The Howard Crawford Murder Case
Friday May 01, 2026
Friday May 01, 2026
Lieutenant Danny Clover was called to a public swimming pool, east of Broadway. When he arrived, he saw a man in swimming trunks and lying on the concrete walk. The police emergency crew were working on him with a respirator. Already on the scene was Detective Muggerman. He says "They've been working on him for quite a while". Danny asks "Why'd you call me to come down?" Muggerman says "I asked the same question of Patrolman Kenny. It's like this, Danny. Kenny was flagged off his beat when this man was dragged out of the pool. He went to check the man's locker, you know, for identification. The locker was empty". Danny asks "Was it forced open?" Muggerman says "No, those locks will open with a dime store skeleton key. Robbery gets a dozen calls a day from these pools". Danny says "So you figure that man's drowning and his locker being robbed had something in common?" Muggerman says "Maybe it's a coincidence, Danny. Maybe something else. I don't know. I wanted you to be here to check it out". Danny says "Let's take a look". They walk over to see the drowned man. Danny says "One of you men call the morgue". Muggerman says "The lifeguard who pulled him out is that one, Danny. Do you want to talk to him?" Danny says "Yeah", and walks over to him. He says "I'm from the police, Danny Clover". The lifeguard says "Uh, Russ Gavey". Danny asks "What happened here?" Russ says "Well, I was on my stand. The man started to yell, so I went in after him". Danny asks "How'd you get those scratches on your shoulder?" Russ says "The man fought me. I had to take him under to break his hold, and when he stopped struggling, I got him out. By that time, he needed artificial respiration, so I gave it to him". Danny says "Alright. Did Detective Muggerman here tell you this man's clothes are gone and it's going to be pretty difficult to identify him now?" Russ says "Yeah, he told me". Danny asks "Do you have any ideas about it?" Russ says "Nope".

Nick Carter, Master Detective - The Case of the Vanishing Postman
Friday May 01, 2026
Friday May 01, 2026
Rain has rolled in across the great city again today. The black skies thunder and crackle with lightning. The streets are glossy and slippery as glass, as Nick and Patsy drive homeward in the detective's car. Suddenly, Patsy says "Nick, look out! That car!" Nick slams on the breaks, and a small crash is heard! After his car stops, Nick asks "Are you alright, Patsy?" She says "I guess so. Oh, golly, I was scared. Lucky you went into this alley when we skidded off the street". Nick says "Yes, and lucky that pile of rubbish cushioned the crash. We might have had a bad crackup. Hey, wait a minute". Patsy asks "What is it?" Nick says "When we smacked into that rubbish pile, we uncovered an old leather pouch lying underneath. You see it?" Nick gets out to retrieve the pouch, and Patsy says "Hey, you'll get soaked, Nick". He says "It's an old postman's bag, Patsy. Falling to pieces. It must have been here for ages". Patsy says "Oh, Nick, come on back". Nick gets back into his car with the bag and says "Well, there's mail in this bag. Letters. There's a name printed on the strap. "R. Draper". Patsy says "Oh, probably the name of the postman". Nick says "Look at these letters, Patsy. Their postmarked August 1938". Patsy says "1938? Then then this bag's been lying here seven years". Nick says "Hey, look here, Patsy. The buckle from the strap has fallen into the pouch. There's a bit of metal wedged in the buckle". Patsy says It looks like a lump of lead". Nick says "Well, it should. It happens to be a bullet. Well, let's get over to the post office at once. I'm afraid the explanation of this undelivered mail may be murder". Later, after visiting the post office, Nick says "Ah, Patsy, a mystery! I found that Postman Robert Draper vanished seven years ago and that the police and postal authorities believe him to be guilty of theft because a registered parcel containing ten thousand dollars in securities also vanished at the same time".

Walk Softly, Peter Troy - A Jinx on Jenny
Thursday Apr 30, 2026
Thursday Apr 30, 2026
Race car driver, Jenny Jones, is speaking with Peter Troy concerning her car exploding just before a race. She says "It's my life, Mr. Troy, as long as I can remember I've always loved fast cars". Peter says "Uh-huh, such a waste, though". Jenny says "A waste?" Peter says "Yeah a beautiful girl like you risking life and limb on those hot rods when you could be ...." Jenny asks "Could be what?" Peter says "Well uh ...." Julie says "Well what, Mr. Troy? I'm interested too". Peter says "Julie, don't you have some filing or something to do?" Jenny says "I suppose you were going to say you can't understand why I should prefer racing to uh, getting married for instance?" Peter says "Yeah, something like that". Julie says "Something like it, but not much. Mr. Troy is not a male who gives a great deal of thought to things like marriage, Miss Jones". Peter says "Now, Julie". Jenny says "Well, if it comes to that, I did think of marrying once, but well, it would have meant giving up my career". Peter says "Oh, your prospective husband didn't like racing cars?" Jenny says "He loves them, but not for his wife, you see". Peter says "Oh, another driver?" Jenny says "Yes, Dick Coleman. He offered to start my car for me". Peter says "He was at the wheel of your car when the engine went up?" Jenny says "That's right. Thank heavens he wasn't hurt". Peter says "He probably feels the same way. The police bomb squad have looked at the car?" Jenny says "Yes, they say some kind of small bomb had been wired up to the RPM counter". Peter says "So that it would go off when the engine was running at high speed?" Jenny says "That's right. As Dick revved her up, bang went everything". Julie says "It would have been nasty if that had happened while you're in the middle of the race". Jenny says "Yes and apparently that was what was intended". Peter says "You have no idea who might have put the bomb in the engine?" Jenny says "None at all. If the police weren't so sure that a bomb was there, I'd just put the whole thing down to my bad luck".

Counterspy - The Statue of Death
Thursday Apr 30, 2026
Thursday Apr 30, 2026
Over the hills of Tennessee, the late afternoon sun was low on the horizon. A young chemist named Elwood Parks stood on the grounds of the world's largest atomic plant. Its grounds are protected by high fences, and its gates guarded by the latest scientific devices. As Elwood walked along the grounds inside the main gate, he bent over and picked up a little grey cat, and says "Hello, Mildred. The mouse catching business is pretty good, huh?" One of the plant guards says "Hey, Parks. Look out for that dog outside the gate". Elwood says "Hold on, Mildred, here he comes". The dog is barking at Mildred. She jumps down, and the dog starts to chase her. Elwood says "Leave that cat alone. Come here. Come here, boy. Come here". The dog runs over to him, and Elwood says "Now, let's see your collar. What's your name? Ah, Tommy, huh?. Beautiful color. You are Tommy. Yes, sir. Good long thick coat". Someone whistles for the dog. Elwood says "Your master's whistling for you, Tommy. That man outside the gate. Go to him, Tommy. Go to him, boy". A few days later, in a small town about fifty miles from the atomic plant, a man named Morton is using sand paper on a small statue of Saint Cecilia. He says "Stubbs, bring me some more Emory paper. Morton says "How's the statue look?" Stubbs says "It's okay if you like antiques". Morton says "You'd never guess there's a vial of uranium compound worth half a million dollars hidden in the neck. Would you?" Stubbs says "Half a million dollars? I'd like to kiss it". Morton says "If you keep this stuff close to you long enough, you'll become radioactive and die. Don't you ever touch this statuette without a pair of these special gloves". Stubbs asks "Mr. Morton, them foreign guys you're in touch with, will they pay off in their own dough or good old US greenbacks?" Morton says "Stubby, we're going to be paid plenty in US greenbacks". Stubbs says "That was a slick stunt, all right. Getting this uranium compound out of the gate and stuck in the dog's long hair with adhesive tape".

Mr. and Mrs. North - Cry Foul
Wednesday Apr 29, 2026
Wednesday Apr 29, 2026
Jerry and Pam North have just finished having dinner at Victor's Restaurant in Greenwich Village. Jerry says "Would you like another brandy and coffee, darling?" Pam says "Oh, no, Jerry, you've already paid the check. Let's go, huh?" Jerry says "Okay, it is pretty late". As they start to leave, a man walks up and says "Corsage for the lady? Just one left, only a dollar". Jerry says "Oh, thanks, but my wife and I were just leaving". The man says "Oh well, thanks anyway". Jerry says "Hey, wait a minute. Haven't I seen you somewhere before?" The man says "Huh? I don't think so, mister" Jerry says "Wait, sure, I have. You're Stubbs McGowan". The man says "Yeah, I'm McGowan". Jerry says "Well, I'll be. Stubbs McGowan". He says "I don't think I know you, mister". Jerry says "My name's Jerry North, and this is my wife. Pam meet one of the greatest middleweight boxers that ever lived, Stubbs McGowan". Pam says "How do you do, Mr. McGowan?" Stubbs says "Hello". Jerry says "Oh, the last time I saw you, was in 1938, against Ace Moran". Stubbs says "You saw that fight, huh?" Jerry says "Just about every other fight you had in New York, Jack Nemo, Benny Tucker, Kid Tornado, Turk Lassen, and Lefty Havana". Stubbs says "You really saw all them fights?" Jerry says "Every one from the last row of the last balcony most of the time, but I was there". Stubbs says "Oh, them was the good days". Jerry asks "What about these days?" Stubbs says "Oh, well, they're okay. There ain't many remember me like you do, though, mister, uh...." Jerry says "North". Stubbs says "Mr. North. I don't remember so good myself sometimes". Just then, someone walked in to the restaurant that Stubbs remembered. He says "Ivy! You're looking wonderful, Ivy". She says "Hello, Stubbs". He says "I ain't seen you since...." The man next to her says "Since the last time I told you to stop bothering my wife, McGowan. I know you're punchy, but I don't think you're hard of hearing".

Tuesday Apr 28, 2026
Tuesday Apr 28, 2026
On September 26th, during the first world war in 1918, Inspector Norman Greg of Scotland Yard receives a telephone call at about a quarter to nine o'clock in the evening. He was asked to investigate someone being shot at a house located on 131 Ladbroke Grove in London. A few minutes later, Greg knocked on the front door. It was answered by a lanky gentleman with a large black mustache and wearing a uniform with the crowns and red tabs of a Staff Major and the Flaming Grenade Badges of the Royal Fusiliers. The man says "I'm Major Robert Henry, officer. My brother's been shot". Greg looked past him, and on the sitting room floor, another officer was lying bleeding from what appeared to be several wounds. As Greg looked more closely, he could see the man gasping. Major Henry says "This is my brother, Captain Dougal Henry of the King's Royal Rifle Corps". Greg asks "Who shot him?" Major Henry says "An intruder or burglar". Greg asks "Where is he?" Major Henry says "He's escaped, I'm afraid. Can you do anything about my brother? I've tried but ..." Greg looks at him, and says "I'm sorry, sir". Major Henry says "Dougal ... " Greg says "He can't hear you, sir. Major Henry asks "Is he ..." Greg says "Yes, sir. So, what happened?" Major Henry says "He was in the library talking with Major Ward". Greg asks "Where's Major Ward, please?" Major Henry says "He's in the library, uh Edmond?". Greg asks "May I go in the library? Is that it?" Major Henry says "Edmond's in there". Greg walks into the library and asks "Are you Major Ward, sir?" He says "Yes". Greg asks "May I have that revolver?" Ward says "Oh yes, of course. I'm afraid I fired it". Greg asks "At whom, sir?" Ward says "At the burglar, the man who killed him, but I'm afraid I missed. I'm not a very good shot". Greg says "He didn't miss". Ward says "No. Poor Dougal, is he dead?" Greg says "He is". After a few seconds, Greg says "You didn't give me the revolver, sir". Ward says "Oh, excuse me. There you go". Greg says "Is this your service revolver, sir? It's a Webley, 38 caliber".

The Line-Up - The Candy Store Murder
Monday Apr 27, 2026
Monday Apr 27, 2026
Lieutenant Ben Guthrie escorts Mr. Dill to the viewing area before the line-up process begins. Dill is a witness that saw two men leaving the scene after a robbery and shooting of the owners in a local candy store. Guthrie says "Any of these chairs in the front". Dill asks "Can I smoke?" Guthrie says "Yes, you can". Dill asks "How is the woman?" Guthrie says "Well, they operated this morning. She's pretty low". Dill asks "How about the man that owns the station wagon?" Guthrie says "He was also picked up". Dill asks "Did he do it?" Guthrie says "That's what we want you to tell us". Dill says "Well, I got a good look. I know I can tell you". Guthrie says "Well, I hope so". At that moment, Sergeant Matt Grebb begins the line-up procedure by giving the instructions to the witnesses. During the process, Mr. Dill picks out inmate number four, John Wolcott, as one of the two men leaving the scene. Guthrie has him held for questioning. Later, during the interrogation, Guthrie says to John Wolcott "Mr. Dill saw a man climb into a station wagon and got the license number. It turned out to be your car, John. In the line-up this morning, he identified you as the man he saw". John says "He's wrong". Guthrie says "Two other men and a woman also identified you. They all agree they saw you run out of that candy store with another man. The owner of that store died last night". John says "I'm sorry". Guthrie says "His wife's in bad shape, but it looks like she'll live". John says "Look, I've never been in that candy store. I didn't shoot anybody". Guthrie says "You live with your brother". John says "Yes, George Wolcott". Guthrie asks "Where was he that night?" John says "He went to a movie and he didn't take the station wagon". Guthrie asks "Does George have a key to the station?" John says "How many times do I have to tell you? No, he doesn't have a key and he didn't take the car out of the garage that night". Guthrie says "Somebody did, John". He says "All right, all right, somebody did".

I've been waiting for you. Please sit down". Phil says "I don't have much time. I've got a date to go shopping with Irene. She's selecting a wedding dress today. We're taking the plunge in less than a month". Carver says "Yes, I know". Phil says "Well, I must say, you look like an honorary pallbearer this morning. Why so gloomy?" Carver says "I have bad news for you, Phillip". He says "Oh, what's up? Is my credit misbehaving again? I meant to tell you that I overdrew this month's funds, Carver, and I'll need an extra twenty thousand to tide me over". Carver says "I'm afraid I can't give it to you". Phil says "So, there's the wedding, of course, and uh .... what did you say?" Carver says "I said I can't give it to you, Phil". He asks "Well, why not?" Carver says "Because I don't have it". Phil says "Well, I'm not asking for a loan, old man, just twenty thousand of my own hard cash". Carver says "I should have said you don't have it". Phil asks "What's the joke?" Carver says "There is no joke". Phil says "I'm worth twenty million and you tell me I can't get twenty thousand? I am waiting for the point here". Carver says "The point is, Phil, you're broke".

On a Sunday afternoon, Howard, an experienced prospector, is at a cantina in the seaport town of Tampico, in northeastern Mexico. While he is enjoying his beer, two men walk into the cantina, Fred Dobbs and Bob Curtain. Dobbs asks Howard "Are you a fellow American?" Howard says "Yeah, what's right, Mister. What do you want?" Dobbs says "I want to know about a guy named McCormick. Have you ever heard of him?" Howard says "Yeah, he's in the oil business". Curtain asks "Have you seen him lately? Howard says "Oh, If I was you, gentleman, I'd run clear of McCormick. He hires a crew to work in the oil field and he never pays them off". Dobbs says "That's right, Pop, six weeks in the oil fields, and 120 degrees in the shade, only I ain't through with Mr. McCormick. Fred C. Dobbs is going to get his wages, see". Curtain says "Come on, Dobbs, let's have a beer". As Howard heard them talking at the bar, he could tell they were just a couple of drifters, like himself. Later that evening, in a cheap flophouse, Howard is talking about prospecting for gold to a couple of sailors, when he sees Dobbs and Curtain again. A sailor asks "Hey, Pop, you mean there's gold here in Mexico?" Howard says "Not ten days from this very spot, a whole mountain of gold's waiting for the right guy to come along, discover a treasure, then tickle her until she lets him have it. The question is, are you the right guy? Tell me something, why is gold worth some twenty bucks an ounce? Because of the human labor that went in to find and get it". The sailor says "I never thought of it just like that". Howard sees Dobbs and Curtain and says "Didn't find McCormick, huh?" Dobbs says "I'll find him, but about the gold, you talk as if you once struck it rich". Curtain says "Yeah, how about it, Pop? What are you doing in here, a down-and-outer?" Howard says "That's the gold, Mister. That's what it makes of us. I never knew a prospector yet that died rich. I'm an odd old bone now, but I'm all set to shoulder a pick and shovel anytime anybody's willing to share expenses".

Let George Do It - The House that Jack Built
Saturday Apr 25, 2026
Saturday Apr 25, 2026
George and Brooksie receive a letter that reads "Dear Mr. Valentine, my name is Lacey Jack. Jack is the surname, I always have to explain that. As a boy I never appreciated that handle Lacey in the front, but I got over it. We change, don't we, as time goes by. We do a lot of things different. Mr. Valentine, for the first time in my life I'm going to be really different and ask for help. I need you tonight. If you'll meet me at the Club Casino at 11 o'clock, you and Miss Brooks, I'll explain to you". Later, that night, George and Brooksie meet up with Lacey Jack, who is quietly sitting at a table. After a while, George says "The man likes to just sit and look, Brooksie. What's the matter? Take you half an hour to size people up?" Lacey says "No". Brooksie says "We don't even really know who you are". Lacey says "I know you don't. Mother died when I was seven or eight. She was a mess, but can you imagine anybody even on five cents a bucket beer hanging a name like Lacey on a brat?" George says "Oh, friend, it's a nice nightclub, but let's get down to it". Lacey says "Hold it. Excuse me, this is it, here". Brooksie asks "What?" Lacey says "The girl, the singer". George asks "What about her, Mr. Jack?" Lacey asks "What do you think?" After listening to her for a few seconds, Brooksie says "Nice looking, if you don't mind a few extra circles under the eyes". Lacey says "Needs fattening up is all". George says "Oh, brother, I give up. Come on, Brooksie, let's drink the champagne". Lacey asks "What do you think about the way she sings?" Brooksie asks "You want my opinion?" Lacey says "You've been around a lot. She's a little inexperienced, I guess". George says "Oh, brother, that doesn't... Did you get us all the way here just to get an opinion on some little blonde you've got your eye on?" Lacey says "I want to know, Mr. Valentine. I must know". George says "Alright, so I'll tell you. In a word, she'd be a great dressmaker's dummy".

The FBI in Peace and War - The Mail Order Man
Saturday Apr 25, 2026
Saturday Apr 25, 2026
Norman and Verna Maple are the owners of a small corner grocery store in the city of Waynesboro, Indiana. One day, while working in his store, Norman was visited by a man named James Ellery, who represented himself as an employee of Johnson, Bailey and Company, a large mail order business. Ellery made Norman a business proposition. Norman said that he would need to discuss it with his wife before any decisions were made. Later that night, Norman is telling his wife Verna about the proposition. Norman says "Ellery asked me if I was interested in selling this property. I said, you mean sell my store, the whole business? He said that's what I mean". Verna says "Oh my!" Norman says "And then, I asked him what would Johnson, Bailey, and Company want with a little grocery business like this? and he said, now look, Mr. Maple, I'll be frank with you. What we want is this corner property. I asked him, you mean you just want the building? and he said no, we want this location to put up a Johnson, Bailey, and Company retail store". Verna says "Right here, on this corner?" Norman says "Uh-huh, and we could rent that place across the street and still stay in business! And Verna, you're not going to believe this because I didn't either, they're willing to pay 45 thousand dollars, if they buy this corner!" Verna says "45 thousand!" Norman says "Yes, he said they're considering either this corner or one other location. The man is coming back in a couple of days". Verna says "Which man?" Norman says "The man from Johnson, Bailey, and Company to find out if we want to sell". Verna says "If we want to sell!" Norman says "Well, I know, but this property has been in the family since 1912. It's our living and we got a store, rent free". Verna says "But, if we had all that money..." Norman says "I know. We could do some of those things we've always wanted to do". Verna says "Like the Grand Canyon, the Yellowstone National Park, Las Vegas, and the Pasadena Festival of Roses!" She stops for a second and says "Oh Norman, I just thought....Alfred".

Escape - The Rim of Terror
Friday Apr 24, 2026
Friday Apr 24, 2026
Elizabeth was driving her new Bentley along a lonely Nevada highway with her chinook dog, Torkel, riding in the front seat. Before long, she spotted a hatless, bedraggled hitchhiker on the side of the road, soaking wet. So, she decided to give him a ride. She pulls over and he slowly walks to her car. Torkel starts growling. Elizabeth says "Quiet, Torkel". The hitchhiker says "So, you've decided I don't look like too much of a risk?" She says "Not at all. Please get in. You look very wet". He says "As a matter of fact, I am very wet". She says "Backseat, Torkel". He says "Torkel, is it? How are you, Torkel? There, he's quite a dog. I bet he could easily kill a man". Elizabeth says "Oh, he's really quite well behaved, and he wouldn't attack without orders". He says "You have made yourself quite clear. Where are we now?" She says "I'd say about 25 miles east of Winnemucca. You're new to this part of the country?" He says "Yes and no. I've never seen that view before". She says "It's breathtaking. Such a difference from back home". He says "Back home?" Elizabeth says "New England. This is the first time I've ever been in the West, and I love it. The scenery is so...." He says "Yes, but this particular scenery doesn't appeal to me very much". She asks "Why not?" He says "I'd say there's someone waiting for us down there. Look". Elizabeth looked far below on the valley floor. She saw a fork in the road and an abandoned building. Nearby was a black speck that looked like a wagon, and two smaller black specks that moved. Men, no doubt, though from here they looked like ants. He says "I'd suggest slowing down. Not much, though. I expect they're watching us through field glasses". She asks "Who?" He says "Let me out here". She says "What?" He says "I'm sorry our ride together must end so soon. Don't be afraid. Have your dog sit in the front seat and keep him there until you're safe in Winnemucca". Elizabeth says "I don't understand". He says "You know what a roadblock is?" She says "A roadblock? Are the police after you?" He says "Not the police of this country".

Casey, Crime Photographer - The Miracle
Friday Apr 24, 2026
Friday Apr 24, 2026
Late afternoon, in the richly furnished master bedroom of an imposing mansion, a lovely dark-haired young woman and a quiet young man stand looking at an older man, gray-faced and wrinkled, lying in the canopied bed. In a voice that quivers with weakness, he says "Shouldn't that doctor be here by this time?" The young woman says "It's less than half an hour since Mr. Weldon telephoned him, Father". He says "Less than half an hour. That means nothing to you, Marion. You have years of life ahead of you. The doctors say I have only a few months at most". The old man asks "Weldon, you really believe this new doctor can save me?" Weldon says "Dr. Von Tellberg has accomplished some remarkable cures, Mr. Blaine. I have great faith in him". Mr. Blaine says "I should have sent for him weeks ago instead of only today". Marion says "I don't share your secretary's faith in this Dr. Von Tellberg, Father. As I told you before, other medical men consider him a charlatan". Weldon says "Other medical men are envious of his success, Miss Blaine". Marion says "What success, Mr. Weldon? According to my information, he hasn't proved a single one of his claims". Mr. Blaine says "Marion, I don't think you want me to get well". She says "Father!" Mr. Blaine says "Even if this Von Tellberg is a quack, he's my last hope. I'm only 55 years old. A rich man. Someone's got to save me. I can't die, I can't". At that moment, there is a knock on the bedroom door. Marion says "Come in". Andrews, the butler, says "Dr. Von Tellberg is here, Miss Blaine". Mr. Blaine says "Bring him in, Andrews. Bring him in". The doctor comes into the room and says "Good afternoon". Mr. Blaine says "I am Foster Blaine, Dr. Von Tellberg. This is my daughter, Marion. You already know my private secretary, Homer Weldon. Marion says "You'll wish to examine Father. I'll leave you alone". The doctor says "Please stay, Miss Blaine. An examination at this time is unnecessary. Mr. Weldon has provided me with your father's latest x-ray photographs, which I have carefully studied. Mr. Blaine, I can practically guarantee to restore you to health".

Mr. Chameleon - The Dazed Girl Murder Case
Thursday Apr 23, 2026
Thursday Apr 23, 2026
At three o'clock on a bright autumn afternoon, Mr. Chameleon is standing in front of his office window, gazing at the street below, when suddenly, his office door is flung open. The Police Commissioner comes in and hurriedly says "Chameleon, let me give you this quick. I'm sending Detective Arnold in with a dazed hysterical girl who says she just saw a ghastly murder committed". Chameleon says "What?" The girl says "Yes, I saw it. I saw it, that horrible night! ... the blood ..." Detective Arnold says "Easy, Miss ..." The Commissioner says "That's all she keeps saying, the knife, the blood! Oh, Miss Wren, this is Mr Chameleon. She says ... the knife ... the blood". Commissioner says "I'll leave it to you, Chameleon. Maybe you can get something out of her". Chameleon says "You look like a girl in need of a friend, Miss Wren. What do your friends call you?" She says "Eileen, but I have no friends. The only one I had, I saw murdered this afternoon. It was my guardian, Glendale Ferguson. Oh, he was so kind. He couldn't believe there was wickedness in anyone". Chameleon says "Eileen, start at the beginning and tell me exactly what happened". Eileen says "Mr. Chameleon, I was in my guardian, Mr. Ferguson's, study this afternoon. I was sitting across the desk from him when Ferguson said "You're making me very happy. I know you're getting better. You'll soon be the girl you were when you came to me". She says "Yes, but I still keep seeing murder in this house". Ferguson said "Eileen, don't get back on that track again. It's just what we're trying to cure". Eileen told him "But I tell you, I beg you to listen. Your own sister, Mrs. Lambert, she's gonna kill you". Ferguson laughs, and said "Elizabeth is going to kill me? Nonsense". Eileen told him "She's bringing people to this house to murder them. I've heard the screams. The terror of it". Ferguson said "Well,, at least she's not murdering anybody now. She's baking a loaf of bread. At any minute, she'll bring it in here hot and give each of us a piece".

The Adventures of Philip Marlowe - The Birds on the Wing
Thursday Apr 23, 2026
Thursday Apr 23, 2026
Exactly at noon, Marlowe receives a telephone call from Miss Hattie Pembrooke, guardian of her nephew, the millionaire thrill seeking screw ball Page Pembrooke. An hour later, Marlowe made his way to the carefully tucked away Hollywood Bar, where she had suggested as the meeting place. Marlowe walked in and spotted her at a corner table. That the old girl would be the other side of fifty, and doing a little too much to disguise it. Marlowe also noticed that she was drinking her whiskey neat. When Marlowe approached her and introduced himself, she started to come right to the point, but didn't quite make it. Hattie says "Mr. Marlowe. Oh, how rude of me. I'm sorry. You're probably dying for a drink. Oh, waiter". Marlowe says "Well, frankly, Miss Pembrooke, I'm not exactly dying". Hattie says "No, no, no. I know you men and your early afternoon appetite for a friendly drink. There's no harm in it. Matter of fact, I've already had, well, I've had a small drink myself". Marlowe says "No fooling?" Hattie says "Oh, waiter. This gentleman's order, please". The waiter says "Yes, ma'am. What'll it be, sir?" Marlowe says "Scotch and soda, if the lady will join me". Hattie says "Oh, no, I couldn't" Marlowe says "Really?" Hattie says "Well, alright. Scotch for me, too". As the waiter leaves, Hattie says "Mr. Marlowe, let's get down to business. Have you ever been to Oxnard, California?" Marlowe says "Uh-huh". Hattie says "Good, because that's where my nephew is. Also, it's where the Calumet Valley County Fair is being held, whatever that may be. And, most importantly, it's where you can probably find out what kind of trouble Page is in. You see, the poor boy is ...." Marlowe says "Down to his last five million bucks? No, I'm sorry Miss Pembrooke, I don't think I want the job after all". Hattie says "Now, one moment. Why not?" Marlowe says "Well, frankly, I hope you'll excuse the reference, but your polo playing motorboat racing daredevil nephew is a jerk". Hattie laughs and says "I know. Page Pembrooke III is an unmitigated ass, a virile egomaniac, and an idiot who's never done an honest day's work in his life".

The Man Called X - University of Leiden
Tuesday Apr 21, 2026
Tuesday Apr 21, 2026
Near where the great River Rhine finally meanders home to the North Sea lies the ancient Dutch city of Leiden. Its quaint gabled houses and bright colored tulip gardens surround one of the great seats of European culture, the University of Leiden. For three centuries these cloistered halls have been a haven of quiet, dignity, and peace. However, lately, the silence has been shattered. The old stone walls echo with the angry shouts of students protesting against a campus organization called the League of Soviet Friendship, which has been circulating the infamous Stockholm Peace Appeal on campus. When the students learn that one of Holland's greatest patriots, Professor Johannes van Fleet, of the university, has actually signed the petition, riots break out. Meanwhile, Ken Thurston and the Chief of Operations are discussing the situation. The Chief says "Here's the end of that teletype report from Leiden, Ken. Four students were killed, and a dozen more were severely injured. The police finally broke it up with tear gas". Ken says "No, I just don't get it". Chief says "Student riots are nothing new in Europe". Ken says "It's van Fleet, I can't understand. His signing that Stockholm petition is practically an open switch to the Communists". Chief says "Well, you knew the old Professor during the war, didn't you?" Ken says "Yes, and he hated injustice, oppression, and intolerance. It's hard to believe that he'd fall for this Stockholm fraud". Chief says "Ken, you don't think they forged his signature, do you?" Ken says "Could be. They've got plenty of reason to. The Christian Republican party is the most influential in the Netherlands. Suppose it falls apart? The radicals may then be able to pull the countries clear out of the Atlantic Pact". Chief says "You're right, but the bureau hasn't any authority to interfere in the internal affairs of another country". Ken says "Oh Chief, I know. It's just that, well, Professor van Fleet was a pretty good friend. Let's see, I'm due to leave for Manilla on Tuesday, that gives me a free weekend". Chief says "Oh, now wait a minute". Ken says "So long, Chief. I'll send you some tulips".

21st Precinct - The Sticks
Monday Apr 20, 2026
Monday Apr 20, 2026
Captain Frank Kennelly is working the day tour, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. It was Sunday, and things were quiet in the precinct. However, during the last few weeks, we had received several complaints from various churches about boys playing in nearby streets in a boisterous manner and disturbing the services. Kennelly had given instructions at the morning turnout for the men on post and in sector cars to correct this situation by warning the boys to play more quietly. Later, during the course of patrol on Second Avenue, Kennelly saw Sector Car Number One, the Sergeant's Car, and the Detective Squad Car of the 21st, parked outside the fence around a new construction project on which excavation had started about two weeks before. Kennelly instructed his operator to pull in as he got out of the car and headed for a gate in the fence. He saw Sergeant Waters also walking toward the gate. Kennelly says "Sergeant, what do we got?" Waters says "Hello, Captain. It's in here". They go through the gate, and Waters says "They had a burglary in the tool shack down there". As they are looking at the excavated site, Kennelly says "That's a pretty deep hole they dug". Waters says "Yes, sir". Kennelly says "Well, what do we got?" Waters says "There was a call from the watchman. See that wooden shack way down there at the bottom? That's what was broken into". Kennelly asks "What was stolen, Sergeant? Waters says "Eleven sticks of dynamite and eight blasting caps". Kennelly says "Yeah?" Waters says "Yes, sir". Kennelly asks "Where are the detectives?" Waters says "Lieutenants Matt King and Pete Vitelli are here, sir. They are inside the shack talking with the watchman. After listening to the details, King says to Kennelly "I believe whoever is responsible knew what they we doing. They knew how to handle this stuff". Kennelly says "Safe burglars?" King says "That's what it looks like to me". Kennelly says "Matt, if they were safe burglars, why didn't they take this stuff? Here's an acetylene and an oxygen tank. A cutting torch is made to order for safe burglars. You know, I think it was done by a bunch of kids".

Richard Diamond, Private Detective - The Jewel Thief
Sunday Apr 19, 2026
Sunday Apr 19, 2026
The phone is ringing in Richard's office. He picks it up and says "Diamond Detective Agency, happy homicide". Lieutenant Levinson says "You know, that's pretty bad". Richard says "Well, what can I do for you, Walt?" Levinson says "You can get right down here. I need a favor". Richard says "Alright, business is slower than a drunk turtle, so I'll be right there". Shortly, Richard walks into the squad room of the 5th Precinct, where, as always, the king of the jungle was on hand to greet him. Otis says "Well, good morning, Shamus". Richard says "Sergeant Otis, you look terrible". Otis says "What's wrong?" Richard says "Well, it's obvious. You've been sleeping in the wrong position". Otis says "What are you talking about? Richard says "Oh, Otis, you've got to get rid of the bats in your house. They're used to hanging upside down". Otis says "Oh, for Pete's sake. The Lieutenant's expecting you. Go on in". Richard goes into the Lieutenant's office and says "Hello, Walt". Levinson says "How are you, Rick? You've been needling Otis again?" Richard says "Oh, a little". Levinson says "You got to stop that. When you come in, he begins to sulk. And I've got to work with him all day. Richard says "I see. Now, what's with you?" Levinson says "Well, we got a tip that a guy named Wells had a stash of stolen jewelry". Richard says "You said he "had" a stash. You mean he hasn't got it anymore?" Levinson says "That's right. We have it". Richard asks "Why is the Homicide Division mixed up with this?" Levinson says "When the robbery boys got over to this guy's house, they found him dead. Shot through the head with a small caliber automatic. The jewelry was found in the water pipes under the sink". Richard asks "What do you want me for?" Levinson says "Well's wife says the jewels are hers, but we don't believe it, so we went through all the regular channels to find the owner. Nobody identifies it. And if we don't get a claim soon, I've got to give them to her". Richard says "And you think the jewelry is stolen?" Levinson says "We know it's stolen. It has to be. These people don't have the money for a fast meal at the Automat".

Barrie Craig, Confidential Investigator - For Love of Murder
Sunday Apr 19, 2026
Sunday Apr 19, 2026
In response to a begging letter received from an inmate named Maxie Potter, Barrie was on his way to pay him a visit at The Tombs, officially known as the Manhattan Detention Complex, a municipal jail in New York City. When Barrie walked toward his cell, Maxie's eyes lit up like 100 watt light bulbs. He says "Barrie Craig, you've got a heart". Barrie says "And you've got a nerve". Maxie says "Just for asking you to come?" Barrie says "For confusing me with the Legal Aid Society". Maxie says "What's wrong with helping people?" Barrie says "Starvation. I don't get paid". Maxie says "I'll tell you what, I'll owe you your expenses". Barrie says "The road to hunger is paved with bad debts". Maxie says "Oh, shades of Mrs. O'Hoolihan". Barrie says "Mrs. O'Hoolihan?" Maxie says "She was my teacher in continuation school. She used to say it". Barrie says "But, it made no impression on you?" Maxie says "No. What I went for was it's blessed to receive". Barrie says "And so, you wrote to me. Now, what do you want?" Maxie says "For you to get me out". Barrie says "I never engineer prison breaks". Maxie says "I want you to put up my bail". Barrie asks "How much? Maxie says "500 dollars". Barrie says "Well, I haven't got it". Maxie says "How about real estate? They'll take that for bail". Barrie says "The only real estate I own is a cemetery plot". Maxie says "Oh, I see. Wait, you're a citizen in good standing. Judge Fanza, he'll let me out on your, uh, your ... what's the word I'm trying for?" Barrie says "Recognizance". Maxie says "Yeah, on that. Well, will you?" Barrie says "You've sure got cheek". Maxie says "Hey, I got troubles. I share them. I'm not proud". Barrie says "Well, what's the charge against you?" Maxie says "Assault, Third degree. Hardly nothing", Barrie asks "Who'd you hit?" Maxie says "Randy Lomax, the talent agent. You might have heard of him" Barrie says "Everybody has". Maxie says "He's been promoting my girl. Feeding her baloney about how he's going to make her a big star. I lost my head and hit him". Barrie asks "With what?" Maxie says "With a brick. But, that's between us. In court, I'm denying it".

CBS Radio Mystery Theater - Blizzard of Terror
Saturday Apr 18, 2026
Saturday Apr 18, 2026
Jim and Helen Crane are driving home through a blizzard on Thunder Mountain after a skiing weekend at a mountain resort. The announcer on the car radio says "We have a special bulletin from the Big Indian Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Ed Ralston has warned all motorists to stay off the roads on Thunder Mountain. Not only because of the blizzard conditions but also because the man sought for the brutal knife murder of the Grant family is believed to be hiding out somewhere on the mountain". Helen says "Jim, please, turn the radio off". After he does, Helen says "Thank you, Mr. Crane". Jim says "You're welcome, Mrs. Crane". Helen says "We don't need to be told again and again that we're in a blizzard on Thunder Mountain. We know we are, thanks to you. I'm sorry". Jim says "Okay, skip it. Maybe it is my fault". After a few seconds, Jim says "You know, I can't see the road. All I can see is snow". Helen says "What's that?" Jim says "What's what?" Helen says "There. Just ahead. Back under the trees. A cabin. We better stop". Jim says "Oh, no. No way. We're just managing to make it up this grade, now. If we stop, we'll never get started again" Helen says "If we keep going, we're sure to get stuck. Those snow drifts out there are getting worse". Jim says "I know". Helen says "We'd be safer in that cabin". Jim says "We could freeze to death". Helen says "Would you please, for once, listen to reason?" Jim says "Okay. Okay. You win. You always do". Jim stops the car, and Helen says "Don't stop here. The cabin's over there". Jim says "If we drive in there, we will get stuck". Helen says "You really are going to have to get new glasses. Can't you see the road to it? There's tire tracks. Snowed over". Jim parks in front of the cabin. They get out and knock on the front door, saying "Hello, Anybody Home?" Helen says "Just open the door and go in". They go inside saying "Hello?". Jim says "There must be someone here. There's a fire still smoldering in the fireplace". Looking around, they find no one. Helen goes into the kitchen, and says "Jim, look! There's blood everywhere!"

The Adventures of Rocky Jordan - The White Beetle
Friday Apr 17, 2026
Friday Apr 17, 2026
Someone is knocking loudly on the back door of the Cafe Tambourine. Rocky says "Go around to the front way. The Tambourine is open". The knocking continues. Rocky says "The front door, I said". The voice outside says "Rocky, let me in". Rocky says "Alright, just cut out the pounding". Rocky opens the door and says "Scrappy Sims!" He says "Please help me". Rocky says "What's the matter with you?" Scrappy says "I can't ...." Rocky says "Let me help you to this couch. Easy does it". Scrappy says "Thanks". Rocky says "Bullet wound, is that what it is? I'll get help, just give me that package". Scrappy says "No, no, no". Rocky says "Easy fellow, you're alright here". Scrappy says "No, the beetle". Rocky says "The what? Help me, Scrappy. What are you trying to say?" Scrappy says "Nobody gets the white beetle". Rocky says "Now, listen to me. Who shot you, and why?" Rocky picks up the phone, calls the Emergency Hospital. and says "There's a man here that is shot up bad. Get an ambulance over here the quickest way you can. I'll explain when you get here". Rocky's next call was meant for Captain Sam Sabaya of the Cairo Police, but he didn't finish dialing. Someone behind Rocky says "Make that call later, Mr. Jordan". Rocky turned and saw her standing there. She was small and olive skinned with dark eyes and wearing a white dress. She had no fear at all, maybe because of the gun held in her hand. She says "Later, I said. Put down the phone". Rocky says "Doesn't anybody use the front door?" She says "I'm not here for pleasure, Mr. Jordan. I'm doing only what is necessary". Rocky says "Like finishing up your job on Scrappy Sims?" She says "You're much too hasty with your conclusions". Rocky says "Just don't touch him lady. I'm telling you, leave him alone". She says "I'm interested only in what he holds in his hand. Get it for me and don't open it". Rocky says "It's all yours". She says "Lay it on the table, and then keep back". Rocky says "Hey, by the way, what good is a white beetle?" She says "No good to you, Mr. Jordan, I assure you".

Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar - The Fatal Filet Matter
Friday Apr 17, 2026
Friday Apr 17, 2026
Johnny receives a call from Ray Connally, an agent from the Continental Insurance Company. Johnny says "Hello, Ray. What's the problem?" Ray says "Problem? No problem at all, actually". Johnny says "Huh?" Ray says "Are you busy tonight, Johnny?" He says "No, no plans at all". Ray says "Well, you see, my wife's out of town for a few days, and Johnny, well, I wonder if you'd have dinner with me tonight". Johnny says "Why, sure, why not?" Ray says "Well, I happen to have a nice thick filet of prime beef in my refrigerator at home. My wife ordered some groceries sent over from Morris Bane's Market before she left. If you like steak, come over to my place at about 6:30. I'll pour you a couple of cocktails before dinner, okay?" Johnny says "Ray, you're sure there isn't something that's bothering you?" Ray says "We'll talk about it later". Johnny says "Yeah, okay". Ray says "Good. I'll see you at 6:30" and hangs up the phone. Johnny thought there was something very funny about Ray Connally's sudden invitation to have dinner with him, much less cocktails. He knew Ray had problems with ulcers, and had listened to him talk about his ulcer-free diet many times. Later, Johnny took a cab to Ray's apartment, On the ride over, Johnny decided that if he did have something bothering him, he'd get around to it. Ray opens the door, and says "Johnny, I'm glad to see you. Come in". Johnny says "How are you, Ray?" He says "Well, you know how it is. What would you like to drink?" Johnny says "Scotch and soda". Ray says "Have it for you in a second". He brings Johnny his drink, and Johnny says "You're not having one?" Ray says "Maybe I'll have a glass of milk. Oh, by the way, how do you like your steak?" Johnny says "Blood rare". Ray says "Okay, I have to have mine very well done. Later, Ray accidently cooks both well done. He says "I'm sorry, Johnny". He says "It's alright, I'll find the makings of a sandwich in the kitchen". After they finished eating, Ray suddenly becomes very sick, and falls to the floor. Johnny calls Ray's doctor, who eventually calls for an ambulance.

Thursday Apr 16, 2026
Thursday Apr 16, 2026
Mr. Keen and his partner, Mike Clancy are filing paperwork in the office when the telephone begins to ring. Mike picks up the receiver, and hears a familiar voice on the line saying "Mr. Keen?" Mike says "No, this is his partner, Mike Clancy speaking". The voice says "Mike, this is Jim Ryan". Mike says "Jim, my boy, and how are you?" He says "Fine, Mike. Would you put Mr. Keen on the line, please? It's important". Mike says "Sure, just a second. Mr. Keen? It's Jim Ryan, the police force detective. He says it's important". Keen says "Alright, I'll take it". Mike hands him the receiver. Keen says "Yes, Jim?" He says "I'm calling from a phone booth in the Hotel Metropole. I'm working on a case, and I thought you might be able to help me out". Keen says "I'll do anything I can". Jim says "Do you remember a man named Martin Cook?" Keen says "Martin Cook?" Jim says "He's in the real estate business. He was called as a material witness in an embezzlement case two years ago. If I remember, you had something to do with breaking that case". Keen says "Just a moment, Jim. I'll ask Mike Clancy to check through the files". Jim says "I don't have much time, Mr. Keen. As a matter of fact, I've been trailing Cook for the past three hours and .... ugh!" Keen says "Jim! Jim Ryan!" Barely audible, Jim says "Knife! ... Knife ... " Keen says "Jim!". Mike asks "What's the trouble, boss?" Keen says "We've got to go to the Hotel Metropole, Mike, quickly. Something's happened to Jim Ryan. And I only hope we're not too late". Soon, Mr. Keen and Mike are looking over the public telephone booths at the hotel. Mike says "This first one's empty, Mr. Keen. Let's see if the other one...." Keen says "Mike, help me open this door". He says "Wait, there's someone inside, crumbled up against the wall. Let's see if we can open this phone booth door". They force the door open. Keen says "Mike, it's Jim Ryan. He's dead. He's got a knife in his back". Mike says "Surely he was one of my old friends in the police force. A better man never lived. I'd like to get my hands on the man...." Keen says "Easy, Mike. Let's keep our heads. We've got work to do".

Official Detective - Hogan Murder Case
Wednesday Apr 15, 2026
Wednesday Apr 15, 2026
Nick and Delma are walking toward Hogan's Tavern. Delma says "Is that the place? That joint over there?" Nick says "Yeah, Delma. Come on." Delma says "He does a roaring business. There's nobody inside". As they walk in, Nick says "Remember, don't touch the glasses. Let them sit there". Delma says "Yeah, I know". Hogan comes over and says "Howdy, folks. A nice night, huh? A little warm, though". Nick says "That's why we came in". Hogan says "What will it be?" Nick says "Two beers". Hogan says "Coming up". Nick asks Delma "What's the time?" She says "Near 10 o'clock". Nick says "He'll be along soon". Hogan brings over the beer and says "Kramer's batting pretty good this year". Nick says "So far". Delma asks "Who's Kramer?" Nick says "Uh, she don't follow baseball". Hogan says "Hey, you folks are new around here, aren't you?" Nick says "Yeah, but we'll be in from time to time". Hogan says "Good". Nick asks "Uh, do you know Monk Sobee?" Hogan says "Monk, sure. He drops in here every night just about this time. Is he a friend of yours?" Nick says "In a way". Hogan says "Monk's a great guy. He usually gets here by 10 o'clock. Hogan then starts talking about baseball again, and Nick asks "Got anything to eat?" Delma says "Yeah, we're hungry". Hogan says "Well, sure. Anything you want?" Nick says "How about a couple hamburgers? Hogan says "Coming right up". Hogan goes to the backroom and Delma says "I was wondering if you were going to get rid of him". Nick says "Sobee just parked his car across the street. He's coming over now". Delma says "I just hope baseball Joe doesn't come out again and start trouble". Nick says "This won't take long. Turn your head away from the door. Okay, get set". Monk walks in to the tavern and says "Hey, Hogan. Set them up, I'm thirsty". Nick jumps up and fires two shots into him!" Nick says "Come on, Delma!" and they run out of the tavern. Hogan comes from the backroom and says "Hey, what's going on out here? Good Lord. Where's that telephone? Hello, operator. Give me the police quick!"

This Is Your FBI - Salesman of Espionage
Wednesday Apr 15, 2026
Wednesday Apr 15, 2026
In the days immediately prior to America's entry into the Second World War, increased FBI surveillance under a presidential directive had so restricted the maneuverability of German agents that they were forced in many cases to employ professional artists of intrigue those whose business it is to spy for monetary profit. Two of these professional spies, on one particular night, were in a small cabin cruiser put out from a private pier near an isolated beach somewhere in the Galveston, Texas area and headed out into the Gulf of Mexico. At the wheel. Richard Fairfield, about 22 years of age, and his mother, Mrs. Fairfield, in her middle forties. About four miles out, Richard says "Mother, we're in luck so far, but what if we should encounter the Coast Patrol?" She says "You have a permit for the boat, haven't you?" Richard says "Yes, but we hardly have a license to carry the kind of cargo we have on board". Mrs. Fairfield says "Let me worry about that, Richard". He says "But suppose they should come aboard for an inspection?" She says "I shall do the talking and no one will come aboard". Richard says "But they just might". Mrs. Fairfield says "Richard, please". He says "Okay". She says "I detest violence of this kind. It is so uncouth". Richard says "Well, there was nothing else to do after he repented and threatened to expose us. If we'd let him get away, the jig would have been up for us". Mrs. Fairfield says "He was a handsome man, wasn't he, Richard?" He says "As I could tell, you thought so". She says "Such a delightful cocktail companion, too". Richard says "Well, getting back to business, Mother, what we learned from him should be worth at least a thousand dollars to the Germans". Mrs. Fairfield says "Nonsense, Richard, two thousand or we shan't have it". He says "Very well. Don't you think this is far enough out?" She says "I should think so". Richard says "Okay then, I'll cut it down and let it drift, while we do the rest". Mrs. Fairfield asks "Can you manage alone?" He says "Yes, I think so. Here goes". A loud splash is heard, and Mrs. Fairfield says "Goodbye old dear, and thanks for the information".

A vacationing carpenter named Roger Kensil enjoyed a brief visit with some friends living near Los Angeles. Early in the morning of September 8th, Roger set out on the highway to drive home. About noon, after seeing a hitchhiker on the road, he pulls his car to a stop. Roger says "Going far?" The hitchhiker says "All the way". Roger says "Well, come on". Hitchhiker says "Thanks, I've been standing there for two hours". Roger says "I don't pick up hitchhikers ordinarily, but it's getting pretty cold, alright". Hitchhiker says "It sure is. The mercury's down to 32 degrees". Roger says "You don't say. Do you live around here?" He says "Just passing through. My name is Olney, Steve Olney". Roger says "Mine's Roger Kensil". Steve asks "You live on the coast, Mr. Kensil?" Roger says "No, I've been visiting friends in Los Angeles. Hey, you mind more company? Up ahead there on the side of the road, that fellow looks like he could use a ride too". Steve says "Hey, he sure does". Roger asks "Think I should stop?" Steve says "Well, it'll be nice of you, Mr. Kensil. It's awful cold out there". Roger says "Why not? We got plenty of room. Maybe later on, we can take turns at the wheel". Steve says "I'm a good driver, if you want me to take it, sir". Roger says "Just open your door for him, will you?. Want a ride?" The second hitchhiker, named Mike, says "You bet I do". Roger says "Hop in. We got plenty of room in the front, mister". Mike says "I'll just get in the back. No need in crowding you". Roger says "Suit yourself. This guy here was hitchhiking too". Steve says "I just got in a mile or so back". Mike says "I guess this is our lucky day, for you and me". Steve says "Looks that way". Roger says "It does?" Steve says "I think so". Mike says "It's good enough for me. What's his name?" Steve says "Kensil". Roger asks "Did you say something to me?" Mike says "No, but I'm going to. Just pull over to the side". Roger says "What?" Steve says "You heard him". Mike says "Grab the wheel, Steve, to make sure". Roger says "Now, just a minute!" Mike says "Relax, mister. This ain't a cap pistol I got here".

Jeff Regan, Investigator - A Streetcar Named Schultz
Tuesday Apr 14, 2026
Tuesday Apr 14, 2026
Jeff's boss, Anthony J. Lyon, invited him into his office to meet the new client, a young muscular guy of about 27 or 28 years of age. He was dressed in a black cutaway coat, striped trousers, a grey vest, and a silk ascot. Jeff couldn't tell if he came from a wedding or a funeral. Lyon says "Jeffery, come in. I want you to meet our new client, the Earl of Gardener". Jeff says "Hi ya". Lyon says "Our new client has quite a problem". Jeff says "Oh, jolted at the church?" Lyon says "Uh, no, of course not, this is serious, Jeffery. The Earl is a famous wrestler. Surely, you've heard of him". Jeff says "No television set". Lyon says "Well, perhaps I'll let the Earl tell you his own story". The Earl says "Well, I think that would be advisable gentlemen. Last evening, I was engaged in a match with a chap who called himself the Atomic Assassin. It was two out of three falls, a one hour time limit. Naturally, I won. Shortly after the completion of the match, the Atomic Assassin suffered a stomach disorder. I'm not certain of the technical name for it". Jeff says "We can skip that". The Earl says "The Atomic Assassin is no longer with us". Jeff asks "Retired?" The Earl says "He's dead". Jeff says "It was in the papers". The Earl says "The police have discovered poison in the post-mortem, completed only a few hours ago. They suspected me of murder". Jeff says "That part wasn't in the papers". Lyon says "We must help our client, Jeffrey. He's given us a retainer of 100 dollars. You understand, our client is innocent". Jeff says "Oh, sure". Lyon says "Yes, well, go on". The Earl says "The police are annoying me with their insinuations. The state athletic commission is being, well, downright rude. I will not put up with this any longer. Do I make myself clear?" Jeff says "We find out who killed the Atomic Assassin and you sidestep a murder rap". The Earl says "Precisely". Jeff says "What do you know about the other guy, the Assassinated Adam?" The Earl says "Well, he's a crude fellow, ill mannered, with a dubious family background". Jeff says "Just a moment. Stop the vaudeville, Earl. Murder isn't show business. Give me some facts and fast".

The Adventures of Sam Spade - The Civic Pride Caper

Sam received an invitation letter, and 150 dollars, from a man named Garrett Welch, a promising young architect in the city of Westover, California. Sam had never been there before, so he made the trip. He soon found Welch's residence at the Fairchild Building. As he approached his apartment, Room 212, Sam heard the distinct sounds of vigorous activity coming out through the transom. As he opened the door, two men were engaged in a fight. One was big and one was little. Sam didn't know which one was his client, so he automatically grabs the big guy. Sam asks "What's it all about?" The little guy says "I was being unreasonably attacked by this misguided citizen". The big guy says "I ought to kill you. That's what I ought to do". Sam says "Why?" Little guy says "Oh, let him go. Beat it, Cogden. Wait until you can catch me alone in some dark alley". Cogden says "Don't think I won't". Sam says "Well, I take it your name is Garrett Welch". He says "It is. And I want to thank you, friend". Sam says "Your mouth is kind of cut up". Welch says "Oh, it's nothing. You want a drink?" Sam says "I never touch it". Welch says "I've already had a few drinks today. It helps me forget and it also keeps me from thinking". Sam says "Why did you send for me? To be a bodyguard?" Welch says "No. Let them have their fun. I don't mind". Sam says "Look, you're paying for my time. Why don't we, uh, get with it?" Welch says "Why not? Come over here to the window. Yeah, look out there, to the far corner. Sam says "Oh, you mean that building?" Welch says "Pile of rubbish is a better description". Sam asks "What happened? Fire?" Welch says "No, it collapsed one night last week. More than 3,000 people in it at the time. Five of them were killed, and many others were injured". Sam asks "How did it happen?" Welch says "It just collapsed. It was a municipal auditorium built to honor the war dead. I was the architect". Sam asks "What'd you do wrong?" Welch says "Nothing. Somebody cheated in the construction. Somebody didn't follow my plans. I don't know who it is. That's why I invited you here".

The Epic Casebook - An Author's Ending
Monday Apr 13, 2026
Monday Apr 13, 2026
Inspector Carr was in his office when he received the news over the phone about the murder of the famous author. Carr says "Olivia Shaw has been shot dead, you say?" The constable says "Yes, sir". Carr asks "When and where?" Constable says "The call just came through, sir. At 14 Edward Terrace region". Carr says "14 Edward Terrace, right. Has any action been taken?" Constable says "Yes, sir. Sergeant Wilkins from the Marivan police station". Carr asks "Is he at the address now?" Constable says "Right. Transport has been arranged for you, sir". At the scene, Carr was met by Sergeant Wilkins who took him to the second floor where the murder took place. The dead body of Olivia Shaw was slumped across the leather inlaid desk, with a gunshot wound disfiguring the left side of her face. The window immediately behind her was splintered into star-shaped fragments spreading out from a neat hole. It was a typical author's study. Two walls of books, wood paneling, a comfortable armchair, a leather couch, and a coffee table in one corner. Sergeant Wilkins says "I was on patrol car duty, sir. I received a call to proceed here at 6:25 PM. The report indicated that a woman had locked herself in a room and would not answer the door. I was met downstairs by a maid and brought up here, sir, where Mr. Hamilton was waiting for me". Carr says "Mr. Hamilton? Well, who's he?" Wilkins says "The husband. Olivia Shaw was her writing name, sir". Carr asks "Is Mr. Hamilton here?" Wilkins says "Yes, sir. In the drawing room, downstairs". Carr says "You say the door was locked?" Wilkins says "Yes, sir. when Mr. Hamilton called us, he said his wife had been in the study all afternoon, and he was getting worried about her. He said it was urgent, as she was given to fits of extreme depression. When we arrived at the scene, we asked him why he hadn't broken down the door? He said that door was built over 100 years ago, and was solid as a rock". Carr says "You say the door was locked from the inside?" Wilkins says "It was more than that. It was bolted".

The New Adventures of Nero Wolfe - The Lost Heir

As usual, Archie answers the ringing phone in Mr. Wolfe's office. Archie says "Mr. Wolfe's office, Archie Goodwin speaking ... Horus Crail ... Does Mr. Crail know Mr. Wolfe? ... Oh, I see". Wolfe asks "What is it, Archie?" He says "A guy named Horus Crail. His secretary wants to talk to you". Wolfe asks "What about?" Archie says "I don't know". Wolfe says "Ask". Archie says "Mr. Wolfe is rather busy right now, but I'll give him a message if you wish ... Yes ... " Wolfe says "What is the message Mr. Crail's secretary ask you to convey?" Archie says "Just that he wants to see you". Wolfe says "In a rather tragic sense, I suppose he does". Archie says "Why tragic?" Wolfe says "He is blind". Archie says "Okay. Uh, what does Mr. Crail want to see Mr. Wolfe about? ... A murder? ... A murder that can still be prevented?" Wolfe says "Tell him to come here at his own convenience". After hanging up the phone, Archie asks "Who is Horus Crail?" Wolfe says "A prominent industrialist. If you read the papers, you would know". Archie says "Oh yes, The Crail Company. How did you know he is blind?" Wolfe says "The papers have carried the story. The headlines read "Blind Father Welcomes Lost Daughter". Later, Mr. Crail and his secretary, Hugh Gaines, arrive at Wolfe's office. Wolfe says "Well, Mr. Crail, what can I do for you?" Crail says "As you see, Mr. Wolfe, I am blind". Wolfe says "You have my deepest sympathy". Crail says "I don't give a hoot for your sympathy, Mr. Wolfe, but thank you, of course". Crail says "I mention my condition merely because it affects the position in which I find myself. Hugh, tell Mr. Wolfe about my daughter. Oh incidentally, Mr. Wolfe, I asked my secretary to do this because in this way you will get a firsthand account". Hugh says "Last Tuesday at about 3:00 in the afternoon, a young woman walked into the house and said she wanted to see her father. I spoke to her myself. She said her name is Magda Crail. I asked her certain questions". Wolfe asks "Why, Mr. Gaines? Crail says "He asked her questions because he thought, and I thought, that my daughter died 13 years ago".
