Nick Carter, Master Detective - Dead Witnesses

Nick Carter and Pete, a Police Detective, are on the street making plans for lunch, when a car pulls up and shots rang out toward a man on the other side of the street. They ran over to help him, but it was too late. The dead man is identified as Louie Morelli, a gangster. Nick said he recognized the man shooting from the front seat of the death car. It was Slug Baron, the racketeer. Another witness, William Fletcher, also stepped forward and said he saw what happened and was willing to testify. Pete said that this was too good to be true. The police have been wanting to catch the Slugger committing a crime for the last three years.
