Pat Novak, For Hire - Rita Malloy

Pat was at home trying to catch up on his sleep. He woke up about 11:00 PM to a dark room, and had the distinct feeling that someone was in the room with him. That "someone" was, in fact, sitting on his bed. He said to Pat "do not turn on the light. I have a gun pointed toward you.  I want the keys to your boat, Novak. You will get it back by noon tomorrow". He got the keys from Novak's desk, and slugged him before leaving.  Pat was knocked out for a couple of hours, until the phone started ringing. Joe Powers from Pier 19 was calling. He said "one of your boats just drifted in. It was smashed up and there was a dead guy in it. You better catch a cab and come down here quick. Homicide is on their way, and they are going to be asking a lot of questions."
