Chris Turner is a writer for a big-time radio mystery named "Murder, Please". His boss is Ken Avery, editor and producer of the show. Chris is called into Ken's office to discuss the latest episode. Ken says "Chris, did you hear the show Sunday? Chris says "I don't like to listen to the show". Ken says "Well, you missed a good one. I put some zip into that closing scene and I want you to hear it. I don't know, Chris, I don't make you come to rehearsals, and you don't have to sit in the control booth all day. The least you can do is listen to the show at home". Ken plays the show for Chris with the new ending. When its complete, Chris says "Why did you change it? What was wrong with the ending the way it was?" Ken says "Because it was wordy and repetitious. It didn't tell the story. Chris says "For two years now, I've turned out a murder a week for you, week in and week out. Every time I turn in a decent script, you chop the heart out of it". Ken says "Your contract's up next week, Chris. You've got only one more script to do. Now, write it and get out!" Chris says "You will get better than a script, you'll get everything you deserve. I'm going to show you what a real murder sounds like, even if I have to kill you to do it!"
