The Adventures of Philip Marlowe - The Black Halo

In a driving rain, Philip Marlowe drove to Santa Barbera to meet a new client, Felix Drum.  He tells Marlowe that his business assistant, Julia Perry, has been missing for the last three days.  After searching her cottage for clues, he runs into Ruby, Mr. Drum's right hand man. Ruby hands Marlowe a postcard from Los Angeles that came for Julia this morning.   It seemed to be from her friend, Ann, who said she was moving on.  A matchbook found in Julia's cottage led Marlowe to Los Angeles and eventually to a small apartment that Julia used while there.  After opening the door, Marlowe finds Ruby, dead on the floor.
