Steven, a Police Officer, is speaking with Earl Decker at the station about his relationship with Linda Jessup, a coworker. Steven says "Linda was lying to you about Marty Jessup. Marty was actually her husband, not her brother. Now, tell me your story from the beginning". Decker says "one night, about two months ago, Linda and I were working late, taking inventory on the fur coats. When we finished, she seemed very tired that evening, so I suggested we stop for a drink before I drove her home. At the bar, I could tell there was something on her mind. She was normally laughing and friendly, but that night she was quiet, restless, and drinking more than normal.
