The Whistler - Legacy of Death

Ten years ago, Henry Mitchell, a biologist, married Martha Hollister, the widow of a wealthy cotton grower. Martha continued to direct the business of the cotton plantation with the aid of Henry as the overseer. She had one child from her previous marriage, a girl named Doreen. Now, Martha lies on her deathbed, growing weaker. She says to Henry "it won't be long now. There is something I must tell you about Doreen. She is 21 now, and is thinking of marriage. As she grows older, she becomes more strange each day. She must be watched over and guarded, until she reaches the age of 30. She has inherited something terrible from her father's side of the family". Henry says "what is it Martha, insanity?" Martha says "not exactly, but more of a strong tendency or powerful urge to kill someone. If it hasn't happened by the age of 30, then, she will be safe".
