After 20 years as a bank guard, George Blake, suddenly found himself arrested for complicity in a robbery. Inspector Caswell is continuing to question him at the police station. Blake says "What do you want me for now? I've told you all I know. Caswell says "You haven't told us anything that makes sense. Now you say you're innocent of having anything to do with a bank robbery. Blake says "That's right". Caswell says "Yet you were seen to level your pistol at one of the robbers at Point Blank Range without firing". Blake says "I told you my gun jammed". Caswell says "Blake, our armory examined that pistol of yours very closely. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. It simply couldn't have jammed". Blake says "It did, I tell you". Caswell says "Were you afraid you might kill him? Was it the thought of killing another man that stopped you?" Blake says "I have nothing more to say". Caswell says "You shouldn't be ashamed of not wanting to shoot a man down. No decent person likes to do that. You've never been in that situation before, have you?" Blake says "I was a bank guard, it was my job to shoot if necessary". Caswell says "Exactly, so what stopped you? If it wasn't for fear of killing another man, then it must have been something else".
